I bought a new HP monitor yesterday for my older Dell PC, hooked up the new and it worked great! I ran a screen saver product to check out the graphics overnight only to awake to a still screen. no response, I had to turn my PC off manually and when I restarted it I was redirected to the bios and it states,
Diskette drive 0 seek failure
Primary drive 0 not found
primary drive 1 not found,
A slight kick in the pants having just upgraded! I,ve already tried to disable the floppy drive like others have suggested but to no avail. I can't find anything in the F2 mode that allows me to look/change FDC or FDS and disable am I looking in the wrong spot? and or is my PC Cashed? Thanks gatch88
Check your BIOS setting to see if it detects the hard drive (Primary disk 0). If it can't detect the hard drive then the hard drive maybe faulty. Open the case unpluge the IDE cable from the hard drive and reconnect it again, also unplug the IDE cable at the motherboard and reconnect it again including the power connector on the hard drive.
There maybe an option to test the hard drive in the BIOS, if so use it to test the hard drive.
If the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace it and install Windows, the various device drivers and your programs to get a functioning computer again.
You might consider buying a new computer (it will be faster & better than the old Dell) and you have your new monitor to go with it.
