Have you tried turning one of the thermostats off.? They are both talking to the same unit and they may be arguing with each other.

I'll need to know what make--model--- age of this unit is and if it's electronically controlled to help you----your question is too vague do to the enormous variety types of heating systems----I'm going under the info provided that this is a boiler with domestic hot water coil----you say central heating so this throws me off---do you heat with hot water--hydronic-----or forced hot air----if hydronic---it sounds like your circulator in not functioning----a bunch of reasons circulator has failed---aquastat's "circulator control" has failed---thermostat has failed----broken wires----plugged lines----it goes on and on----this is the best I can do with this info sorry Happy Rabbit

Unit won't operate and there are 4 flashes on the red light.

Two things- Clean the sensor rods or replace(cheap and easy with YouTube instruction video) and at the same time replace the main program chip (also a easy plug in chip). The whole repair takes two hours for a homeowner and costs about 50 bucks for a chip. These are easy an generally the flame sensor rod is the culprit. The code may also be the limit switch but try EZ and cheap first. See You Tube..

Water wont heat up

You didn't indicate model, etc., but consider the following:

If an electric unit:
1-Check the circuit breakers,
2-Some units have a reset on the unit, check that,
3-If this is an older unit, the heating element may be gone and need to be replaced.

If a gas unit:
1-Ensure the gas is turned,
2-Ensure that pilot light is on, if not, relight UNLESS...,
3-If automatic lighting, does unit spark when attempting to come on.

If this unit is over 10 years old, I would recommend completely replacing it rather than repairing it if the above doesn't work. New units are much more efficient and the savings could outweigh the cost in the long run.

The unit is no longer heating the water. The red light comes on indicating that the unit is heating the water, but only cold water comes out of the faucet. We've tried raising and lowering the...

This will be a thermostat or element problem. The red light tells us that you have power to the unit. If you are handy you can test the thermostat and the element with a continuity tester. A voltmeter may also be used. This will tell you where the fault lies.

Blinking red light no heat

It sounds like you are actually in lock out. Recycle is when during a call for heat, the flame goes out, the unit will try to restart itself. Hope this helps

I have a digistat scr with a flashing red light and no heating there is nothing wrong with the batteries, this only occured after a poweer cut.

Try this first before condeming the unit.

1. Turn off the power supply to the Digistat SCR (receiver unit)
and leave for 5 seconds.
2. Turn on power to SCR unit and check red light is on.
3. Press override button No.2 and check the green light comes
on and boiler fires.
4. Press & hold down button No.1 (Keep depressed), then
press No.2 and keep depressed. {The Red LED light will flash
a couple of times and then it will go out}
5. Now release both the buttons – {the two LED lights should
come back on}
6. Get the Digistat+2RF/+3RF unit and stand two metres away
from the SCR unit with the Digistat+2RF/+3RF unit in your hand.
7. Remove the battery cover and fit the batteries.
8. The Red LED light on the SCR will now flash for approx. 7
seconds.
9. This confirms that the radio signal is being sent and
received.
10. The Digistat+2RF/+3RF and the SCR are now successfully
linked by a dedicated RF address.

Paloma Tankless water heater wont kick on

Tankless Water heaters have a automatic pilot and digital water temperature control system; you have to turn on the water in the house to get it to kick on that is unless you have a circulation pump on a timer. If the gas supply doesn't have atleast a 2" rating that with cause the tankless to malfunction because it's not getting enough gas pressure; certified professionals rarely make this mistake. Moreover, if you don't have a water softener you are using with the tankless you voided your warranty; the minirals clog the heat exchanger.
