Card readers can malfunction for various reasons. First, try using this (USB) card reader on another PC/laptop ? If it works on another computer, then a likely problem is the card reader driver on your PC. You may want to go through a "device" test first on your PC, to make sure that the device is functioning properly. Then, locate and download a software driver (for this card reader), and install it. [ Yes, when you first use / insert the card reader into the USB port, the PC automatically will locate, download and install the driver on your PC... like any plug-and-play device.] So, if the device isn't working anymore, the driver may have been lost or corrupted. And recovering them may be possible from your backup ... when the device was still working properly.

If the card reader doesn't work on any other PC's, then it's likely that the card reader is "burnt" out. These are inexpensive circuits and (very) disposable items.

SOURCE: memory card cannot read!!!

sometimes lapstops and PCS as well as Cameras can go out of line. That is the formatting in a particular PC may not be able to be read in another.
In you case this may not be so, as the card now cannot be seen. It would have been interesting to see if it could have read it before it was formatted by your laptop. Try another card in the camera first. If no other card can be read then the problem is on the read head of the camera.

This may be just dirt or damage, and it will have to be repaired. But try another card first as the card is cheaper than a repair.

SOURCE: Kodak EasyShare C633 not reading any SD Card

check the manual for any such thing like "memory card problem" or open the page that talks about it, it may contain useful info
usually there is a preferred type recommended to use

using a memory card that was installed in other cameras may change its format or file structure, this may cause your camera not to recognize it, try formatting the card and then install it again, most cameras have a "format" option in the menu, try it out

there might be a "reset to factory defaults" option, this may reset your camera to the way it was originally it was in, could solve it

SOURCE: kodak easyshare c613: memory card says its full

If you connected the camera to the computer with a USB cord to download your pics and then just yanked out the cord without using the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right corner of your screen, the card may have been corrupted. Replace it.

Yes, that's one of your option but it would be better to purchase a cable compatible to your camera and download the software that supports the camera. You can get the software at www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw

I bought a deer cam (trail camera) at Walmart and a PNY card with PNY Multi-Slot USB & Flash Card Reader P-UBSDRDR21K-RF. I can't make them all work for me. PNY card reader has no instructions on the package neither on their website and their support is a joke. When I plug in this multi-slot card reader into my PC (I tried two different PCs) something isn't right. I get no results, just empty folders. The card is new and has data on it. Both products come from PNY, both were purchased at Walmart and both are going back to Walmart for a full refund and I will never buy a PNY product ever again.

In this instance, you might want to consider either borrowing, or, purchasing and card sd reader. Some computers just don't read these cards from their built-in slots, so, using an sd card reader often fixes the problem.

Hope this helps. :)

Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
