SOURCE: My Whirlpool French door Refridgerator

Try the manual reset procedure.Unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty both the freezer and fridge section.Keep the doors open.Let it remain in this condition for 24 hours. Then all the ice collected will get melted and all the ventilations will automatically get cleared. Then connect the power to unit.Set the temperature settings to normal mode. Then turn the unit ON.In near about 4 hours the unit will show that its getting properly cool in both the fridge as well as freezer section. But if the same problem repeats then its defrost problem. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from online sites like: --- or from searspartsdirect online site.

This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Im having a problem with my refrigerator. Freezer vent has cold air refrig does not. Kids left door open on refrig yesterday for a couple hours no definet time thats when problem started. any solutionns

Sometimes the refr still will not constantly blow cold air just because it is on and does not meet the required temperature that it's set at. In most cases, for a new refr to fully cool down, it takes 24 hrs. Let it sit for at least 6 hours with the doors closed, If it hasn't cooled off then chances are that there's a problem with the compressor. Whatever you do, don't turn up the colder knob just yet. Leave it where it was and see if it cools down, you don't want to overwork the compressor trying to reach that cooler temperature.

If after the refr sits and it still doesn't cool down, chances are you're going to have to call a repair service to come and check it out.

Pluged in a new one and it does not seem to be cooling off

did you tilt it prior to plugging it in you are supposed to wait 12 to 24 hours to plug them in if theyve been tilted at any time during transport.

Amana French Door Refrigerator "on" but no cooling; freezer still works

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
