Firefly external hard drive 60 GB

When I plug in my HD the computer would not show it on the computer.  Now I put it up to my ear and it sounded like it was having trouble booting up.  Now I know how to hook it up to the computer directly but I have not taken it apart so I don't know what cords to use or need

I have a mac powerbook and am using a 60 gig external firelight hard drive. It powers up, but the icon does not appear on my desktop. The yellow light that ususally comes on when it is reading the drive. . . does not come on anymore. . Please advise.

You may need to initialize the disk, do this by right clicking on my computer, select manage, then look for disk management, there you can right click on the drive, initialize, format, etc.

What is the largest Hard drive i can put into toshiba Sat Laptop R35 S159

It's 60 gb at the moment, do you mean the internal HD or an external, an external should be OK with 1000 gb, to replace HD in notebook is done from the bottom, remove screw F5 under CD-DVD, remove CD-DVD and there is the hard drive, try 320gb replacement.

My external hardisk is showing in device manager but it is not showing in disk manager

**Turn your computer off, then unplug the USB cable and then the power to the drive. Restart you computer, plug the power into the hard drive, wait 10 seconds and then plug the USB into the computer. This clears the hard drive buffer. See if the drive shows up in disk management. Before formating, turn off your antivirus. **
**1. Test your drive on another pc
2. Check your bios settings

Hi. Sometimes, there are compatibility issues on external drives. Most recent computers will read them while others may not. Either the external casing or the cable is causing this.

I have a 60 GB simpletech external hard drive. I

Try to hook it up to another computer and see if it works there. This will tell you if the device is failing. If you have found that it failed please see about replacing the power adapter. If still no live the device has failed and needs replacement.

Thanks, Frank Z.

Fried HD?

Yep, it's probably fried, a little too much juice went in.
While the drive itself might be ok, the external casing is another story.

Try opening the case and removing the HD and plugging that in on your PC directly as a slave drive.
