Question about Yamata FY101-1A

Open Question

The machine will only sew long stitches, and reverse is gone.

I tried submitting my machine's problem last night, but did not do it well. So here goes again. The machine is a Brother Disney, model SE-2700. (1) It will only form long stitches. Stitch length will not change even though the LCD screen shows shorter stitches after I have made the change. (2) Reverse button will not respond. When the button is pressed, the machine continues to sew forward. Turning the wheel to reverse manually doesn't work. Although the fabric feeds back, the stitches are not formed. (3) The bobbin being used is the right size. (4) Shuttle and area have been cleaned, even though they weren't dirty. (5) The embroidery unit still works perfectly, making great Mickey Mouse and other characters. Guess that is it. Thanks.

SOURCE: How do I change the stiches?

You can do all of these stitches by using different combinations of your stitch selector, stitch width and stitch feed knobs, for instance, on the panel I can see on your machine:

http://www.jo-ann.com/joann/product/images/52659.jsp?CATID=cat3122&PRODID=prd11333

Stitches 1, 2 & 3 are straight stitches, centered, left and right. Really basic stuff, not different stitches at all. 4,5,6,7 & 8 are zig-zag stitches of different widths. 9 is the widest zig-zag (no. 8) on a finer stitch length, etc...

I think you should try and get an instruction manual for your machine. After a lengthy search of my usual manual sources, I've determined that that this may not be so easy. I think you should contact White on their 800 number and let them try and help you... 1-800-331-3164.

If you found this helpful, please vote generously as I receive nothing other than acknowledgement for my time.

SOURCE: will not stitch still

Have you looked at the shuttle? It should be easy to take out and examine. Make sure everything looks OK then put it back in and try again.

Sounds like it is either out of time or the adjuster spring needs to be replaced.

Machine sews fine until I use reverse and then the bottom stitching gathers up. Very annoying. I have adjusted bobbin tension and thread tension. What should I try next? Thank you.

Since you seem to have done everything possible to make it "happy", it is not likely that tension is the issue. With the problem becoming more aggravated, sounds like the feeding mechanism is not responding correctly in the reverse mode. Even refurbished machines come with a warrantty, so try that route before submitting it for an inspection by your local qualified technician.

My bernina patchwork 140 will not sew in reverse when I press the reverse button has the button gone bad the button hole won't sew ithe back stitch either?

Some machines will not do any of their automatic forwards and backwards movement type stitches in reverse, are you trying to reverse in straight stitch or a more complex stitch.

The Activa is a late model quality machine, do you have a Bernina dealer locally you could ring up and ask or take it to?

Ny bernina 1090 will only sew in reverse

My bernina did this too. Put your finger on the reverse stitch button, and keep it there for a few seconds. You have pressed the reverse stitch button too long, and it has gone into reverse mode. Hope this helps. tich

Why is my screen showing the 'bobbin threading' icon??

Perhaps the bobbin winding mechanism is stuck. Probably needs service.

Also, check the bobbin and bobbin case. Perhaps there is some thread stuck or it is not securely threaded through the tensioner.

Kenmore 15516 It only goes reverse both ways.

Does it have an automatic buttonhole? If so, is the pattern selector set on part of the buttonhole? set it to straight stitch or Zig Zag

The Reverse stitch button

The feed mechanism needs to be oiled. Take off the bottom cover and look for any place where two parts move against each other. Some binds can be very difficult to remove. Try spraying everything with a light weight oil (I like Tri-Flow) and let them soak over night. Then manually try to move the feed dogs with your hand. Hopefully it will break loose.
Good luck!

Reverse sewing button stuck HELP!!

MOdel 6430 has the stitch length and buttonhole selector on the same knob. It is the one on the bottom right side of the machine. I believe you may have selected the buttonhole by pulling out on the large round knob. You need to turn the knob back to 0 zero and push in. This should return the machine to normal mode.Adjust your stitch length to 3 and try it. The reverse knob in the center should also stick out so that it becomes operational again.

Necchi Stitch Length

When you press the level the machine goes in reverse. When you turn the dail to O it goes in reverse. The dail is somehow out of alinement and that is what I am searching for the adjustment that would bring the machine to O and the adjustment that would lengthen the stitch forward. When I push teh level for reverse it does go in reverse. I guess the question would be if you would like to lengthen the stitch further than the dail currectly allows how do you do that. THanks!
