One of the sides(the wider one) is locked in the open position.
One side of my play pen is locked in the open position so I can't fold it all the way to store it. I've tried opening and closing it a couple of times to try to unlock it but it doesn't work. Does any one have any ideas? I've even tried to look up pictures of the folding mechanism to better understand where it is locking, but no luck.
Re: One of the sides(the wider one) is locked in the open...
On our pen the linkage was famous for binding at the junction(elbow) some slide forward to release, others must be squeezed, the best way to start is to flip it up on its side or rite upside down, just to reroute the pressure and (hopefully) allow the binding junction to release and fold. you'll have to fiddle with it but it should go. if its newer call the manufacturer, faulty bady goods can be cause for very costly legal infractions(they could get sued!) which means they should try to help you out and hey, you find out your not the only person with this problem on this playpen. hope it works out for you , Jon here are a link with a couple of recalls: http://www.fcsafekids.org/PDFs/Hotel%20program.pdf

Rear Seat Operation Folding the Seatback Your vehicle may have a split folding rear seatback. To fold down the rear seatback on the sedan, do the following: 1. Open the trunk and pull one or both of the gray handles located on the upper part of the trunk opening. The left handle will open the larger side of the seatback. The right handle will open the smaller side of the seatback. 2. Once a handle is pulled, the seatback can be pushed open through the trunk, or pulled open from inside the vehicle3. Fold the seatback down. To raise the seatback, do the following: 1. Push down on one of the levers and pull the seatback up to lock it into place. Make sure the safety belt is not twisted or caught in the seatback. 2. Push and pull the top of the seatback to be sure it is locked into position. 3. Use the reclining front seatback lever to adjust the seatback to a comfortable position. http://cdn.dealereprocess.com/cdn/servicemanuals/chevrolet/2004-malibu.pdf
I think I may know how to solve your problem. I had a similar issue with the pack and play my mother-in-law gave me.
It seems to never work if you set the play pin up right and try to lock the sides up. Tug and pull all you like it just wont do it. I would suggest that you collapse it completely, then try to lock the sides, short first, while the system is either upside down or on its side. Then lock the longer sides.
This is what worked for me at least. I hope this helps. :)
The Tracker is designed to be folded and unfolded easily, by one person.
To unfold: If your Tracker has an adjustable handle, ensure that it is in one of the middle positions. On the central twist grip, push in the red button and turn the grip in the direction of the "FOLD" arrow. The pushchair should now begin to open. Placing your hand on the side moulding, pull on the handle until the primary locks on both the left and right hand sides engage with a click. The secondary lock should automatically engage.
To fold: First of all, make sure that the front wheels have been locked into fixed, non-steering mode. Also, ensure that the adjustable handle is in one of the middle positions. Press the red button on the twist grip and simultaneously turn it in the direction of the "FOLD" arrow. At this point, the chair should start to close. Next, look for the secondary locking device. This plastic tab should be situated just below the handle grip on the left-hand side. Pull it upwards, whilst tilting the chassis forwards and continuing the folding action until it is fully closed. Align the front wheel with your foot, if necessary, and fold down the adjustable handle to store the chassis.
Hi, to set up the pack and play, first latch each of the four sides together. (Each side rail latches together in the middle -- just straighten the rail.) Once all four sides are locked and straight, push down on the center of the pack and play bottom (it's probably red) until it snaps into place.
To fold the pack and play up, just follow these instructions in reverse -- pull the bottom up first, then press in the button on each side rail to fold up each side.
Always make sure the pack and play is completely set up and locked before putting a child in it!
To open the Graco Pack 'n Play from the folded position, you have to latch each side rail by pushing the two ends of each rail until they are horizontal and form a straight line. They will latch into place with an audible snap -- do this for each of the four sides. Then push the center of the Pack 'n Play's floor down until it is flat as well.
If you can't latch the side rails, the floor of the Pack 'n Play might be down too far. Push the floor up until its center reaches at least halfway up the sides of the Pack 'n Play. (You can do this by pushing the sides of the Pack 'n Play in toward each other.)
Were you able to open it using these instructions?
When folding the Vibe some important things to remember are that the handlebar must be in the most upright position (perpendicular to the ground), nothing can be below the rear axle level (ie. lift the basket up above this) and the front single wheel should have the side with the attachment bar on the outside.
The fold locks will not engage if everything is not in the correct position. If everything is in the correct position the fold locks will easily engage/disengage. If everything is NOT in the correct position the fold locks will not engage and should not be forced.
Put handle bar in upright position.
Undo the side lock clips. Then you lift the red lever on the side to start the fold. Fold so that the pram front wheel and handle come together.
As the pram folds ensure basket is above rear axle and the front wheel has the attachment bar on the outside.
When the pram is fully folded you can fold the side lock clips back in place.
I had the same problem until I found the manual and practiced a bit, When opening, it's important for the middle to still be in a high unlocked position - then they click right in place very easily. The sides won't go up if the center column is down too far first because the middle locks in place automatically and prevents movement of the sides.
When folding it, the floor lock has to be twisted fully in the unlock position and the center column back up in a high position for the sides to fold in (each side as 2 joints to disengage). Unlocking turns the center support column so that all the support tubing underneath can move. If the center column won't come up high, you don't have it unlocked yet.
