SOURCE: faulty microwave oven

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

You will need to replace the magnetron. Click on the link below to view the part needed to get your Sanyo microwave oven working again:

If you are not experienced in electrical repair it may be cheaper (and safer) to just buy a brand new microwave vs. trying to repair your old one.

SOURCE: My microwave isn't heating my

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

The microwave has worked very good but latley

check the thermostat mounted on the side of the magnetron,it has 2 wires on it and opens the circuit to the magnetron if it overheats, they can get weak and open too soon so the mag can't operate long enough to properly heat the food,to test it just bypass it bo tying the 2 wires together, then if it cycles properly just replace the part, don't leave it bypassed though because it is for fire safety

Doesn't heat food or liquid.

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.
