SOURCE: GRE prs 295 channels locked out

This message usually means that the scanner has been cleared of all programming. Press the MANUAL key repeatedly to review channels. If 000.0000 shows, it means that you need to program the unit.

Need the manual for your scanner? You can download/print it here:

SOURCE: I have a GRE PSR-282

If it malfunctions even after a reset then the defect is hardware and in that case the unit is dead - fixing it would require the replacement of the controller and that will cost more than a new one. Time to accept the loss and replace it.

My GRE PSR295 scanner wont switch on

first off check your batteries. if you are using a rechargeable battery pack disconnect it and try it off the power supply alone bad battery packs can and generally do keep radios from powering on. If this allows it to come on, try charging it for 24 hours, and then deep cycling it several times ( run the scanner with sound such as on a noaa weather channel) until it goes dead and then recharge, to recondition the battery pack. if this doesn't work the pack will need to be replaced or rebuilt (batteries plus can do this) if the radio just uses discrete rechargeable batteries simply replace them. meanwhile I'll look for a manual for you....

Can the GRECOM PSR255. be used to scan for aircraft /airband frequencies

Your radio is not capable of recieving air band frequencies. It will only receive 4 bands consisting of: 26 - 54 MHz; 68 - 88 MHz; 137 - 174 MHz and 380 - 512 Mhz.

The VHF airband uses the frequencies between 108 (just above commercial FM radio) and 137 MHZ (just below 2 meter Ham radio). Amplitude Modulation ("AM") is the mode that transmissions are made. The lowest 10 MHz of the band, from 108-117.95 MHz, is split into 200 narrow-band channels of 50 kHz. These are reserved for navigational aids such as VOR beacons, and precision approach systems such as ILS localizers

I have a uniden bearcat scanner and cant pick up my local police dept. I put the frequency in and still dont hear anything. I have a bc145xl 16 channel scanning radio and want to know if its compatible...

If you programmed the correct frequency, you should be getting reception. Check www.RadioReference.com to verify the frequency. Otherwise, you may be too far from the transmitter to receive signals. Try your scanner in other locations, check your antenna, and try receiving the PD on another scanner.

The MARCS - Ohio Multi-Agency Radio Communications system - is a Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink Trunking system that utilizes APCO-25 digital transmissions. Your BC145XL is not compatible with trunking or digital systems. In order to follow the MARCS you will need one of the following scanners:
GRE PSR-500, PSR-600
Radio Shack PRO-106, PRO-197, PRO-96, PRO-2096
Uniden BC250D, BC785D, BC296D, BC796D, BCD396T, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD996XT, or the brand new HomePatrol-1

I am trying to find operating instructions for a Commtel-206 scanner.

Your scanner was also marketed as the GRE PSR-244, and it's nearly identical to the Radio Shack PRO-62. I couldn't locate a manual for the Commtel or GRE, but you download/print instructions for the PRO-62 here:
