Did it give you a blue screen or restarts automatically?
To stop Auto-Restart upon System Error:

    1. R-click "My Computer", "Properties"

    2. Click "Advanced", inside "Startup and Recovery" frame, click "Settings"

    3. Untick "Automatically restart"

    4. Click "OK" twice and next time the error will be left on screen for you to debug (with another machine or write it on paper).

Then we can investigate further from the Error number on the Blue Screen.

Does it do this with every USB port or only some of them? You could have a bad controller, and get around the problem by using a hub on a working port.

How to fix ?USB device not recognized? error in windows

Are you getting a “USB device not recognized” error whenever you plug in a USB mouse, keyboard, or other USB device? I love USB and have 5 ports on my computer so that I can connect my mouse, keyboard, camera, phone, and printer to it all at once!
However, last weekend, my computer stopped recognizing my USB devices! The strange thing about it was that the USB ports were not bad because all of my devices were still getting power to them. I could still charge my cell phone without a problem!

c24d32d.png

So I started with the normal fixing methods, including uninstalling the drivers for my devices and reinstalling them. That didn’t work! Next I tried System Restore thinking that maybe I had installed something and it caused a conflict with the USB system drivers. That didn’t work!
I read online that in order to fix this problem I should go to Device Manager and uninstall all of the devices under USB Controllers. Restarted the computer, reinstalled the USB drivers, but the problem STILL did not go away!
You may also see in Device Manager that the device shows up as an “Unknown Device”. 42b721d.png
So how did I finally fix the problem? Well, apparently it’s a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort.
Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Yes that’s it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don’t really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.
First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!
So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.
Hope this helps someone fix that pesky “USB device not recognized” Windows error!

Device cannot start code 10 message

If your system is displaying code 10 or "the device cannot start" error messages, resolve the problem with a little troubleshooting.
These messages arise when your computer does not recognize universal serial bus (USB) devices.
Faulty USB devices or malfunctioning drivers are common causes of a unrecognized USB device. It is important to detect and repair the underlying issue to prevent serious harm to your personal computer.

Plug the USB device into another computer.
If the alternate computer displays the code 10 error, there is a problem with the USB device.
Return the device or purchase another one.
Plug the new device into your system. Make sure the code 10 error does not appear.
Click "Start" and right-click "Computer."
Select "Manage" and click "Continue" if the "User Account Control Prompt" appears. Open "Device Manager."
Select the faulty USB device.
Notice a yellow exclamation warning next to it.

Right-click the faulty USB device driver and select "Update Driver Software."
Allow the driver to update.

Right-click the faulty USB device driver and click "Uninstall."
Exit the Device Manager.
Restart the computer.
Allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
Ensure that the USB device is working correctly.
If you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers should be on it.

it might take some time being a freeware driver solution
Note: it will find all of your outdated drivers

This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point.

Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

My philips gogear vibe wont turn on

Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip,

if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display.

Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off.

If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager."

This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button.

Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode.

Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then folow the steps to fully recover the GoGear.

Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing.

Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord.

Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on.

This will begin the charging process of your GoGear.

If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced.

Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

hope this helps

Follow the steps given below to refresh USB ports.

1. Right-click My Computer icon on the desktop, and then select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager button.
4. Click the plus (+) sign to the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

Please note, repeat Steps 5 and 6 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

7. Shut down the computer.

CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected, instead of the Restart option.

8. Wait for 5 seconds and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, a "Windows has detected new or added hardware" message window will open.

The above steps will refresh the USB ports.

Now connect the USB devices like mouse, video camera, your external usb hard disk...usb hubs...whatever you like and the drivers should install automatically.

Non of the 3 USB ports works anymore for unknown reason

ok, the answer is pretty simple, ur usb ports connect to a internal hub, that hub is what has malfunctioned, u need to reinstall that device's driver though the device manager on vista, go to start, type device manager in the search box, click device manager in the list, a uac query will appear, click continue, on device manager go to universal serial bus controlers and click the +, right click the usb root hub and uninstall it, repeat that for all of the usb root hubs, then restart ur pc, it will automatically reinstall the devices with a fresh driver, plug in your usb device and it should work, have a great day and happy holidays
