SOURCE: thread keeps breaking

Your machine isn't threaded properly. Check to make sure #1, you have it threaded right and #2 the thread on all 4 spools is in between the tension dials. Good Luck and Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Top thread won't catch the bobbin thread

First check the upper and lower tension adjustments according to link below and then check the knob (bobbin case) that makes the bobbin tension which lies inside the shuttle if it is too loose. Restricted it with the sheet metals around it so that it shouldn't move so freely up and down or back and forward. Be careful it should move freely a little but not too much.

Refer to your machine for cleaning the bobbin area.

You will need to clean this area often as lint and thread snips can build up can cause the bobbin feed to malfunction.

If this continues after you have cleaned the machine, the timing may need to be adjusted by a sewing machine tech.

White 2037 twin needle keeps breaking thread

Thread breakage occurs commonly with mis-threading. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Also, since you are using 2 threads, thread one completely and then thread the other so the threads do not get twisted in the thread path. If your machine has duel tension disks, thread each tension disk separately with a single thread. Setting the thread spools to turn opposite directions may help.

Also, make sure the needle eye is the right size for the thread. Thick or thin thread could break easily in the wrong needle.

Also, use only good quality thread--no bargain bin or old threads!

The top thread is probably breaking due to the bobbin thread tangling.
First-off fit a new needle .... do that anyway ! And if you haven't recently cleaned your machine (and you should do it every week as a minimum), clean-out under the stitch plate, remove the hook, clean the hook race and give it a small drop of oil, even if you're using the lightweight plastic hook/shuttle. Check that you have adequate bobbin tension ... when you pull the thread out of the bobbin case there should be a bit of resistance --- technically, this should be set-up using the correct tool and a set of weights, but if there is no, or very little resistance, you need to increase the bobbin tension a little bit at a time using the small screw that holds the tension spring down onto the bobbin case. This is a very fine adjustment, so you may find you only need to turn the screw less than a quarter turn to get it right. Ensure that, when you thread the top thread up, you do-so with the foot lifted so that the thread goes down properly between the top tension discs. If you're still not getting anywhere, check the basic timing/needle depth by looking at some of my other posts on the subject.

When i sew my thread keeps pulling and breaking from the needle, seems like there is a lot of pressure on top thread and it bunches up from the underneath bobbin when sewn on material

Most of the time it is caused by the top threading, Could your thread be old, or tangled? Double check your threading by this little trick, put your tension dial on 3, totally rethread, insert a new needle (flat side facing rear). Then with the presser foot up, pull on the top thead and it should pull smoothly, now put the presser foot down, pull again, it should barely move. This usually seats the thread in the tension discs. Hope this helps.

Needle's thread gets tangled in bobbin

First, open the needle plate and make sure the bobbin area is clean and free of lint and thread.

Check the needle to make sure it is not bent and is properly inserted into the holder - usually with the flat side facing to the back of the machine.

Refer to your manual for bobbin insertion to be sure the thread is feeding from the bobbin in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up. This opens the tension control and allows the thread to properly enter.

When the foot is down, the tension control closes to the sewing setting and if the thread is not in place, there is no tension on the thread and it gets loopy.

After threading, lower and raise the needle while holding onto the thread tail. This will pull the bobbin thread up through the needle plate. Take hold of both threads and take them under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Hand walk the first stitch when sewing and this should keep the top and bottom thread from tangling.

When stopping to change the position of the fabric (turning a corner, sewing a curved seam for example), do so with the needle down into the fabric. This not only anchors the fabric so it does not slip, but prevents mis-stitching.

If you are doing everything according to the manual and are still having a problem, the machine may need to be professionally serviced.

Threads keep getting tangled when I try to serge. Happens everytime I tried to re-thread it, it bunches up when I serge.

If you mean the threads get tangled behind the presser foot then maybe this can help. Try pulling the threads gently as you guide the fabric through the first time. Also, I sometimes put a scrap piece of fabric under the presser foot with the edge lined up with the needles (so it is further back than normal). Then I gently press the speed control foot and pull on the threads. This allows the needles to start sewing right away on the fabric rather than giving the thread a chance to get tangled. Hope that helps!

Needle thread breaks while quilting on machine frame

My friend and I both have the Juki 98Q but on different frames - we were both having problems (needles breaking, thread getting tangled) we removed the thin metal thing inside the bobbin case and have had no problems since (over a year now!).

Thread breaking.

it doesn't take certain needles. Make sure youre tension isn't too tight, both top and bobbin. Also I found with my Euron Pro that the thread needs to be at the back and I have to hold it kind of tight when I start or it will bunch under the plate and break. Hope this helps. Feel free to email me at DizzyAnjel@rogers.com if you need help with tension settings
