Question about Heartland 3525SS Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Oven door does not seal

I have had the Heartland metro 3525SS for eight years. Over time the door of the oven starts to remain ajar and heat escapes. We had the springs and the gasket changed two years ago, but over time it started to remain ajar again and now you can see a 3/8 inch gap and the signs of heat escaping on blackened cabinet doors next to the oven. There is no technician in town that works with Heartland anymore. IT was suggested to me that I should replace both the springs and the receivers. I ordered the parts from Heartland and got them. Then I took the door apart, but the springs are attached to the door with metal rivets, and I am not sure that I am up to the task of finding the right rivets, removing the old ones and installing the new ones. I don't even know what tools I would need for that.

Drill out the rivets with a power drill use nuts bolts and lockwashers where the rivets were Once the door is back on:
loosen all the door screws then bend the door diagonaly slightly to square it with the oven opening (don't worry you won't damage it) then tighten the door screws again check to see that the door is flush (no gaps)

The first thing I'd suspect is a poorly fitting door seal / gasket. This will permit the heat inside the oven to escape. Check to be sure the the one installed is defective (cut, split, frayed, dislodged, etc.) Replacement parts:

Make sure this is the part you need before ordering.

Very warm heat escaping from oven door

Hi dont know if you have solved this but our cooker was doing something similar.on one side and the dorr seal was fine. I turned off the mains, took the side panel off and it turned out the insulation inside had slipped down. I bought some more from eBay.co.uk and replaced all of the old stuff and now I have no problem....1 year on. Hope this helps

I have a Competence B 6139-4-m electric oven. the door does not close properly, have tried cleaning it as intruction manual suggests, the heat escaping from the oven has scorched my cupboards

the fault is unlikely to be the actual oven unit so therefore in order of least expense the things to check are:- the door seal being complete, the hinges not having been forced, the door not being buckled, self adhesive universal seals are available online from *spares etc. Hinges are easy to remove from the cooker and then can be unscrewed from the door and replaced. if it's the door I would have to say that's less likely to be available for a sensible price.

Knobs are distorting with heat

It sounds like either a bad design or a leaking seal, the knobs are above the oven?If it is the door might not be sealing good allowing heat from the oven to escape upwards heating up the knobs. It is not normal.

I have a 36" heartland range and the oven does not work. A few times I have reset the breaker and then it works, although now even that does not work. The gas top works fine ande the digital display unit...

If you had to keep resetting the breaker that means the electric element was shorting, arcing and therefor drawing too much amperage. The reseting of the breaker kept allowing it to spark start. The high voltage would occasionally create its own bridge from the heat expansion to make a connection and work. But the use of the unit under these conditions kept destroying the heating element even more. A few things need to be checked now. The heating coil, and the high voltage wires inside and out. There is no telling where the damage may have traveled now. Hopefully it only killed the heating coil.

Oven takes forever to heat up - its a thermador double oven - me272

Hello- Check these things first-  Door seals tend to get stiff over time. This is normal. Door hinges can become loose or get bent a bit, causing door to not close tight. This little gap can allow heat to escape, causing extended pre-heat times and frequent cycling of elements. If door doesn't seem to pull shut tightly- hinges will need to be replaced. If oven appears to operate normally otherwise, this should solve problem.  Let me know if the info helps- have more if needed- Thanks  - Ed

Heat escaping, uneven baking, longer cooking times

Either the seals need to be replaced, or you may have weak oven door hinges, and the door is not closing properly.
Only solution would be to replace both hinges if this is the case.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

The cooling fan stays engaged after a cleaning cycle. How can it be turned off as it has been running for 2 days now.

The problem is the oven door latch. Open the oven door and you'll see the latch on the left front. When it's to the right, the readout will read "SC" for self cleaning. When pushed back left, the fan stops. Apparently the latch does not return to the off position after SC. Snap it back a few times and it may stay off. If not, you'll have to fix it.
