Question about Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5100 Modem
Recently I got my internet back on, last friday I notice my internet speed is really slow, I took a speed band test and the result is 356 @ dl speed 328@ ul speed it's been a real bother and I called for help from my at&t ISP, but they couldn't figure what's wrong. I used to dl large file at very little time, but now even 5MB takes 2 to 3 minutes (when it was ~30-50 secs) I hope someone can help to my problem. thanks! if you need more information on regarding my problem, email me at email@example.com
Start -> Run -> 'cmd' and press ENTER.
Enter 'netstat -a -n -o'.
Count the number of lines containing 'TCP'.
Count the number of lines containing 'TCP' and 'ESTABLISHED'.
If you have more than 2 or 3, then something else is "consuming"
all your Internet connection, leaving only a "small" amount of capacity for your "speed-test".
Start your computer in 'Safe Mode', and repeat the "Speed Test".
The results should be much better, now that those "other" applications will not be consuming 99% of your Internet connection.
