Removal steering

LOOSEN the the bolts that clamp the fork legs to the tree. Remove the fork legs along with the front wheel by pulling down on them. Be careful that the brake hoses and the speedometer aren't damaged. Remove the center nut. Bend the lock washer tang so that the bearing retainer nut can be removed and remove the nut and washer from the center shaft. the tree should slide out from the bottom. Don't remove the bearings from the center shaft unless you are going to replace them. When re-installing the center shaft, tighten the bearing retainer nut just enough so the shaft doesn't shake but not so tight that there is a bind when turning the tree. this can be re-adjusted after all assembly is complete.

What is Quarter-Sawn Lumber?

Quarter-sawing is a method of milling trees into lumber. Quarter-sawn lumber is highly sought after, particularly in certain species such as oak or maple, where look of the grain in the wood is accentuated by the method of cutting the tree. While rip-sawing is the most efficient (and common) method of milling, quarter-sawing is more difficult to cut but yields much more stable lumber. Because it is more difficult to cut and there is more waste, quarter-sawn lumber is considerably more expensive than rip-sawn material.

Engine and VIN/chassis numbers

The usual place for Vin numbers is along the head stock. Chassis at the front of the Fuel Tank.
Where the handlebars are mounted this is called top yolk, which is mounted to the fork Triple tree,(Shaft that goes up the HEADSTOCK)
It is behind your headlamp area around where the fuel tank is.
Imagine! If you were to take the forks off the fuel tank off and then stand back and look at the frame it is the area from photo supplied where the nose cone is.
I do hope I've given you directions to the numbers as it is very difficult trying to describe without pointing it out in front of you not being there.
I'm sure you'll find it Ed!
Good luck,
