Question about Dryers

The dryer just stopped in the middle of a cycle

During a cycle I opened the door to check some of the clothes and when I closed the door it would not start again. I have checked the breaker and nothing. I have checked the outlet and power is coming through because the light still works inside the dryer.

HI, Give it about one hour then try it again. If it starts, the motor might be going bad. If it doesn't start, please get me model# and I will try and assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

This is a bad door sensor. For some reason as soon as you opened it up then closed the door the sensor went bad and now needs to be replaced. You can find your part at repairclinic.com also when you purchase your product you will also get instructions with it

How do you dry clothes in this machine please

A fairly common problem! The official instructions are

Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth to
remove dust from storing and shipping.
1. Load clothes loosely into the dryer and close the door. Do not
pack the dryer. Allow space for clothes to tumble freely.
2. Turn the Cycle Control knob to the recommended cycle for the type of load being dried. Use the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting (,) to dry most heavyweight and medium weight loads. See "Drying, Cycle, and Temperature Tips."
3. Select a temperature setting on models with a Temp/Fabric selector. The cycle descriptions include temperature setting suggestions.
4. Push the START button.

Stopping and Restarting
You can stop your dryer any time during a cycle.
To stop your dryer
Open the dryer door or turn the Cycle Control knob to OFE
NOTE: The Cycle Control knob should point to an Off area when
the dryer is not in use.
To restart your dryer
1. Close the door.
2. Select a new cycle and temperature (if desired).
3. Press START

Dryer door opens during drying cycle, had it "repaired" but still opening - worked originally well for about 2 years - but cannot get it to stay closed for the entire drying cycle.

these newer dryers are such garbage with their thin Sheet metal. see if the door is bent by the hinges. Dropping clothes on the doors bend these newer machines. then they don't seat correctly

Dryer door opens in the middle of drying.

Check the door strike and the plunger to see if one of them has broke.

Dryer is occasionally leaving rusty looking smudge marks on clothing.

don't open door (stop dryer) until cool-down and dryer stops. many times the heating element is still hot and when you stop the dryer in the middle of the cycle, the rear of the dryer where the heating element is, will scorch your clothes.

Dryer stops in the middle of cycle

The door latch has failed, that's why your dryer stops. When the door opens it stops the drum and turns off. Fix the latch.

Dryer stopped working mid-cycle.

I presume she pushed the start button again. Can you hear the motor running? If so, it's a broken belt. The door switch can fail anytime. If the dryer started ok later, the motor was overheated. Lighter loads will avoid a lot of problems, and the dryer will probably work better.

During the drying cycle, the dryer door opens

Chances are the little plastic latch keep is broken. Look at the door and locate a peice that will press into the front area where the clothes go in.
Once you see it, check the keeper and see if it is broken. The door should not just pop open.

Clothes Dryer will not stop or be quiet

On some Kenmore which is made by whirlpool, there is a resistor connected to the timer control. when the machine is off can you listen to the timer switch and hear it running, making a clock ticking sound? If so, you need a new resistor. Being a dryer, when you open the door and it stops the button needs to be reset before it starts again, right? So I wouldnt be looking at the door switch as much as the start button. It may be the evil one.
