Question about HP OfficeJet Pro K8600 Printer

Open Question

Hp 8600 all-in-one printer, the on /off button does not work

I cannot turn off the printer via the on/off button. The only way to turn off the printer is to put the plug from the wall. Any way to repair the switch?

SOURCE: how can i fix my C6180 HP photosmart computer with msg of improper shutdown from wall switch

Try what they call a hard boot. In other words completely power down ththe printer by either removing the power cord or shutting down via the power button. If this does not work try to enter the menu and clear the arror code manually. Hope this helps.

The HP Officejet 8100 and 8600 has a "cartridge protection" feature. In the toolbox there is a tab named "HP Cartridge Protection", where you can choose if you want to enable or disable this function. The default setting here is "enable" which results in the cartridges only working in this particular printer. If you install the cartridges treated with this "protection" feature in another printer, they will not work and a message pops up.

How do I delete eprint?

Usually for HP printers not being recognized because they loose their IP address on the network or the computer can't see it.

What you can do is completley uninstall the HP software for the Officejet 8600, then go to lookup the officejet 8600 under Support > Download Drivers. download the latest full installation then run the install. When it ask you how to install it do the custom install and then only select the things you want to install.

When it ask you to do the eprint set up you can skip that part. also once install try running the HP updates for find any Network fixes or and Firmware updates.

8600 printer won't print. Only shows preparing printer on the screen. I have never used this. It's a refurbished machine.

Apparently not well refurbished. HP printers are pretty good about bugging you when Ink is low but I'd also check for gunk on the rollers that may have then sticking. The machine does check them but unlike with the ink you will get no "dirty" machine messages. It will just not ever be ready. Also, make sure you have no network printer software running if the printer is directly plugged it via the USB port. Only run that software if the printer is available via your local network. Simply stop such software and your printer will be available for local use again. I had to plug my HP printer directly into the new PC to install the drivers and have not moved it back to being connected to the router and the network printing software will interfere until I move it back.

Computer has a different ip address than my hp 8600 printer and says it is offline when it isn't

This should work (assuming that you are using Windows Vista or newer):
Remove the printer from Windows (in Control Panel, Printers And Devices right-click and choose "Remove)"
Then choose Add Printer and follow the wizard and it should find your wireless printer automatically.
Please let me know if this doesn't work.
