Problem for Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer
Can i print without color catridges
i have an epson stylus cx4200 my ink light was out so i bought a new black cartridge because that is all i needed to print. i now figure out that you can tell which cartridge is out, but i know need to print these papers due soon, i found a way in my printer options to print in just black my my ink light is stil on and my printer wont receive the document. any solutions? i would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,
you do need both cartridges in and with ink or the printer will not print to prevent damage to the print heads from running dry. The printer normally uses a small amount of coloured ink to "tone" blacks but if you leave it set to Black only it won't do this and in the future you should only have to replace the black cartridge.
