Jammed camera The lens on my Digimax S800 Samsung camera is stuck in the open position and when I put new batteries in it and tried to turn it on it beeped three times then shut off with the lens still in the open position. What's up with that? Will I need to send it in to the manufacturer? [email protected]

A temporary fix to power up is to press the menu and power button at the same time. When the lens is extended and it beeps, on my camera , the lens is *stuck* Give it a gentle tug , then try the power button again

I don't know how but the problem seemed to fix itself. I left it alone for a few weeks then put new batteries in the camera and it started working. A few weeks later the same thing happened again, it got jamed in the open position. I removed the batteries and re installed the same batteries and it started working again. I guess it hickups every once in a while.

I've had the same problem and tried several sets of (brand new) batteries and rechargeables before I found a set that had enough power to satisfy the samsung. It goes through batteries at an amazing rate.

Samsung Digimax S800 camera won't turn on. Beeps three times.

This explains the 3 beeps. also says you can get it repaired which is by far the best option. The behaviour is very typical of low battery state. Try a set of Lithium batteries.

Lens stuck open

hey, I had the same problem when I accidentally droped my camera, some parts in the mechanism are probably broken or jammed.

Most likely repairs required.

Samsung Digimax S800 has lens stuck in open position. Replaced with fresh alkaline batteries, pressed on button, screen lit up for a second or so, turned off and gave 3 beeps. Any ideas? Thanks, Kevin

Did you accidentally drop it? If you did then there is a big chance that the lens is busted. If you didn't drop it, then it could be just dust/dirt inside the lens mechanism. Hold your camera with the lens facing the ground and then repeatedly tap it your camera gently - moderately to remove the dirt. You can also try spraying compressed air into it.

Lens is stuck shutter is open, changed batteries , tried new batteries, inserted SD card, installed AV lead, put some lubricating oil around lens layers, Any other ideas... Please N.

Do not put any oil into the set as you can get it worse. The only possibility is the failure of controller unit of the camera. The motor drives are not working , canbe not signal from the mP.
You will need to get this checked at the Samsung service centre for estimation.

Samsung digimax s800 not swiching on

The problem is that the lens is jammed. I had to take my camera apart to unjam mine manually, the cogs that move the lens are not lined up with each other, thats why you hear the motor turning and then you get the 3 beeps because the lens hasnt initialised

My samsung digimax s800 won't turn on,the batterys are ok

the lens mechanism is not initialising, the cogs that move the lens are out of alignment slightly. you colud try and fix this yourself by taking the camera apart and realigning it manually, or sometimes you can get hold of the prodtruding lens and gently pull, be carefull !! you might hear a grinding noise as you pull this is just the main lens cog turning. once fully out put batterys back in and give it a go

S800 powers on and goes off, lens stuck zoomed out.

i had the same problem with my samsung s800 camera (from new!!!) draining batteries quickly and then being left with the lense out, i took the camera back to where i got it from (argos) and after being asked if i was sure i was putting charged batteries in they sent it away for repair and it turned out that the lense mechanism was broken, i think they charged me £10 to get it fixed but i have had no problems since then.

Samsung S800

Lens mechanism can be stuck. Try gently to drag or straighten it.

Will not turn on

Sounds like your lens is stuck. Try a gentle tug and it should open all the way. Then you can power your camera down.
