If you are talking about wireless security, you will find the settings under Wireless Security in the routers setup page.  The default will be HTTP://  no username, default password of "admin"  If you are talking about the router's password itself, you will find that under Administration in the same setup page.

Ok, after you are in the router's setup, what you need to do is the following:

Select Wireless link at the top of the page

Select Wireless Security in the second line of links

Select the type of security that you want, I would suggest WEP

    Change the encryption to 128bit

Enter a passphrase, kindof like a password, and click apply settings

After the settings are applied, write down the value of Key 1, you will need this later

Things to remember, Change the default channel from 6 to something else, you are probably not the only one using wireless in the area, and changing channels prevents a lot of "noise" which slows down your connection, and in some cases prevents it.  Also, Change the SSID to something unique.  Hackers love the default settings, so don't give them an easy target.

After your router is set up, now it's time to set up your wireless connection on your desktop/notebook.  Remember the Key that you wrote down, you will need that for this part.

Right click on the wireless connection in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, select "View Wireless Networks", if you get a message saying that windows cannot configure this adapter, close this window, and open up the wireless configuration utility that corresponds with your wireless card.  In the security settings, make sure you have WEP as your security (if that's what you selected as your type), 128bit (26 Hexidecimal characters) encryption, and the key you wrote down input into the program.  At this point, you should be able to connect.

If Windows controls your settings, when you chose "View Wireless Networks", double click on your network in the box, type in the key that you wrote down, and make sure you do it twice, exactly the same, otherwise you will get an error.  At that point, you should be able to connect.

Should you have any problems, I am available for remote assistance in the evenings (Central Time), and only require that you email me ahead of time at and request an PIN code.  A few requirements, You MUST have a WIRED connection to your router to set it up, and you MUST have the wireless card installed in your machine, including the software.

What does error code 51330 mean?

The password or key for your wireless router that was entered is incorrect.
Make sure the password or key is entered into the Wii exactly as it appears in your router's settings. Keep in mind that security keys are case sensitive. A simple typo may be causing the problem.

Create a password for wireless internet connection

Hi. Open your browser and go to
the default username and password is admin / admin.
Once you are inside the router, you will see on the left the menu such as network map, operation mode, advanced settings. Under advanced settings you will see the Wireless configuration where you can change the SSID (name of the wireless network) to any name you want. Then on the security you can select either WEP or WPA, i would recommend WPA and you set the password (letters and numbers or just letters) and save the settings and that's it.
Try to do this on a computer directly connected to the router (via ethernet cable) because any change on the wireless will disconnect you.
I hope this helps. Please do not forget to write and provide positive feedback for our fast/free support today. :D

I am setting up a Linksys Wireless G Router and can't find how to set up a password

You can get to the router settings menu by entering or 192.168.1. in internet explorer. It should ask for a password and default is usually "admin". Once you are in the settings for the router you can configure the security settings for WEP. When you activate it you will create a password that all computers on the wireless network will use to connect to the router.

We just got wireless internet this past year at our house and when my dad set it up he forgot to write down the password which lets you onto the internet. So now we are able to log on through the computer...

to set the wireless settings you need to use a computer that is connected to your router or the computer that is working on your router wirelessly.

access the setup page of your router using IE on the address bar type the ip of your router, by default it is, username=admin and password=password, once your on the setuppage go to wireless settings option on the left pane. you will be able to see the wireless security there.

the reason why you dont know the wireless security for the old computers its because once you typed the security key in the computer will remembers it and save it on the system.

Start up wireless linksystem

I believe that once you make the connections to your modem, you should be able to log into the router to set it up by opening a web browser and putting "" or "" (without the quotes) into the address line. The default username and password is usually "admin" and "admin" or username "admin" with no password. From there you should be able to configure the router as needed.

In order to do this, you either need to be able to pick up the wireless signal (and have the WEP or WPA key if it's already secured), or connect your computer to the router via Ethernet cable and then take the steps above.

Lastly, once you're in, check the router's manual (if you have it), to see what the recommended settings are. The nice thing is that routers make connecting to the internet easier for you: then work with the modem to figure out the IP addresses for your networked computers, as opposed to having to go into your TCP/IP settings on your computer and having to mess around there.

Let us know if you have any success.
