TELEPHONES LOOKING FOR BASE?

Have not used the telephones in about a year; the cordless is about 2 years old.  I decided to use with a new cable telephone line.  Both phones are showing connecting when talk is hit and Register Handset by placing on Main Base. One has been on the base for approximately a day but still is not Registering with Main Base.  the cordless from the small cradle is doing the same.   What do I do?

Bought a used vtech 5.8 phone, charged the battery and now see message "not registered. I can not make calls... how do I register it?

I believe it is telling you it is not registered with the Base Unit. You did get the Base Unit with it didn't you, otherwise you have a paperweight.

If you do have a set then this is the answer

Tip 1 of 1
Step 1: Place the handset in the base or charger. If PRESS FIND HS 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and recradle it in the base or charger.

Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for approximately four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while, the handset will emit a series of tones, and the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

Hi I have a vtech Hannah Montana Cordless phone and it won't ring. It has a slash through the ringer bell on the screen. I've tried the ringer settings taking the battery out and the tone and...

These can be the only things that are causing your problems:

Ringer mute
You can mute the ringer temporarily when the telephone is ringing.
Press OFF/CLEAR or MUTE to temporarily silence the ringer. The next call will ring normally.

Ringer volume
You can change the handset ringer volume to a comfortable level. The ringer can also be turned off so the telephone does not ring when there are incoming calls.
To adjust the ringer volume:
Press MENU/SELECT to display the menu when the handset is not in use.
Press or to select >RINGER VOLUME, then press MENU/SELECT.
Press or to adjust the volume. A sample of each volume level will be played as you adjust it.
Press MENU/SELECT to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Make sure the ringer is on (page 8).
Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter are plugged in properly (page 2).
The handset may be too far from the telephone base. Move it closer to the telephone base.
There may be too many extension phones on the telephone line to allow all of them to ring simultaneously. Try unplugging some of them.
If the other telephones in your home are having the same problem, the problem is in the wiring or local service. Contact the local telephone company (charges may apply).
Other electronic products can cause interference to your cordless telephone. Try installing your telephone as far away as possible from the following electronic devices: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, pager towers, cellular telephones, digital telephones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, VCRs, personal computers, kitchen appliances, and other cordless telephones.
Test a working telephone at the telephone wall jack. If another telephone has the same problem, the problem is in the telephone wall jack. Contact your local telephone company (charges may apply).
The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning. Try installing a new telephone line cord.
Wait for the handset to synchronize with the telephone base. Allow up to one minute for this to take place.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

I have a sony duel like cordless phone SP 511. Now it is emiting noise when receiving any call or making any call. The noise is like the line is getting earthed somewhere. The parrel connection is perfect....

Answer: Telephone line noise is usually caused eitherby an attached telephone or by the telephone line acting as an antennaand picking up radio frequency interference. If you have checked all ofthe telephones and telephone line devices and the noise problem occurson all outlets and all telephones (or at least all telephones without abuilt-in filter), then we recommend one of the noise problem solverslisted below. These work by removing the unwanted frequencies. If youhave tried both a filter and a choke core without results, then theproblem may be a physical problem with the phone line wiring iteself. In this case, you would need to contact your telephone company to havethem check the wiring. It doesn't solve the problem but will give you a hand to solve it.Hope it helps.

Md 760 series cordless telephone system

Hi,

Try unplugging all telephone (including the base unit), then try to call the number again. If there is still a busy signal, then the problem is with your telephone line/connection and you need to call your phone provider. On the other hand if the number rings, then chances are that base unit is defective (or one of your other phones physically connected to the tel line.).

To verify that it is the base unit or one of the other wired telephones,  reconnect them one by one and determine which of them will cause the busy signal. Problems like this can be caused by a power surge, near lightning strike or a simple component failure.

If it is the base unit, it is very likely an electronic problem and therefore would require familiarity with components and circuitry diagnosis, soldering and use of a DVM. Perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified phone technician.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
