Mine played for about and hour then cut off. It would cut off randomly after this hour. I initially thought it was overheating but after seeing other people had it happen after immediate turn on it must not be the case. Intermittent problems like this are difficult to troubleshoot which is why I came to this site hoping someone had found a simple answer. I am a technician and will have to do it the hard way. When I find the answer I will report my findings to this site.

If so, check your speaker connections. Make sure there are no loose copper wires hanging out, and that your splices are clean at both the receiver and the speaker.

I have a Yamaha HTR-5250 and have used it for years. It is now cutting off at random times. I tried to use it while my kids were watching a movie earlier today and it would stay on for 5-10 seconds, then...

There is a cold solder connection on the circuit board. These types of connections occur due to high current which causes the solder to heat and slightly melt. It causes intermittent operation that you are experiencing. It can be fixed - inspect the solder side of the circuit board for the cold solder connection and re-apply solder.

My Yamaha HTR 5920 Amplifier

1-first try to keep good ventilation around it and confirm that the air flow in and out is completely free from any blocking thing.
2-clean it by air blower.
3-if you use remote control to power it keep it far away and all other remotes also.
4-disconnect all your speakers---- and try to test the amp one by one.until you find the bad one and change it-----if all above not working you must send it to service center near you.
