Question about RCA DTC210 DirecTV DTV Receiver

1 Answer

Power problem As soon as I plug in the receiver the leds for "power" and for "HDTV" blink on and off continuously and nothing comes through to the screen. The flickering leds are accompanied by an electronic switch on / off sound. Any ideas on how to analyze, repair or if anyone knows that this is non-repairable, I would appreciate the feedback.

5 blinks on a TU-PT700U panasonic plasma tv means what?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

Beverly Gobin,

It sounds like the receiver may be power cycling. Try bypassing any power strips or surge protectors and plug directly into a wall and try again. If the problem continues, if possible try another outlet.

Send me an email at if the problem continues since the receiver may need to be replaced.

The receiver will shut off and come back on and some times will not come back on for a bit?

Have you tried unplugging the receiver from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds and plugging back into the outlet? This will cause the receiver to reboot. Give this a try and if it continues to power off/on, you may need to replace the receiver. You can call 1-800-333-3474 for further trouble shooting.

No picture or sound at power on. LED blinks 6 times.

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. When the receiver power button blinks on/off. It usually means the receiver is in "recovery" mode and needs to be left alone for up to 4 hours. Once complete, everything should return to normal but if you are still having an issue, please contact Dish Network for some advance troubleshooting.

Retuning Philips DTR 1500 digibox

Had same problem. Remedy is to put digibox back to factory reset. Dis-connect from mains. Keep pressing + button on front panel as you re-connect to mains. Red LED will be on, when orange LED blinks release + button. briefly press + button. You have solid red LED and blinking red LED. Enter code 9 9 0 0, by remote blinking LED will show green. Wait a few minutes and the instalation page will appear on screen. Go to update and start as you did before and C5 should be installed. Hope that helps.

TiVo has power but something is up.

Replace the power supply.
Sometimes, it will just have enought power for the LED and Fan. But not enough for booting up the drive correctly.

No startup

For my FTR9965, it is necessary to physically unplug the
power cord from the box before you are able to enter the service codes. The sequence is:

1. Unplug the box for a few seconds.

2. Plug it in again.

3. Turn on the box with the front panel power switch. Wait for the green light to come on.

4. From the remote, quickly enter 062596 plus the info key.

5. A message comes on the monitor warning you that you could really screw things up if you don't know what you're doing, and do you really want to continue? If yes, hit any button on the remote. You only have a few seconds to respond.

6. The "stand alone" option is near the end of the "service" menu list. When you find it, change the "no" to "yes".

7. Go back to the main SAM menu, scroll down to "Store", and hit OK. I'm assuming this makes the "yes" selection permanent.

8. Enter "00" to exit SAM.
