Enter your PIN number, or take the unit back to the "Security Location" and it will unlock by itself. You can then enter a new PIN unlock code.

Your options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin are:
1 - Enter the correct PIN.
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was originally entered.
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin.

SOURCE: forget the unlock code
The only way to unlock a PIN locked Garmin is to enter the correct PIN or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered. Your only other option is to send the unit to Garmin.

http://www.tramsoft.ch/downloads/garmin/streetpilot-c550_owners-manual.pdf page 29 & page 30 discuss the 2 options for reset/restore.. one clears all saved data (i.e. favorites) & the other resets the system. I'd also suggest connecting the usb cord to ur pc & GPS , then use the update software, This can resolve any issues you may be experiencing.
