Dometic rm7732 not cooling

Hi,

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.

First, answer these questions:

  • Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.”

  • Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

Next, see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

Freezer works fine on propane but not the fridge

You may wish to check the flue clear anything that you find. Old birds next etc. Also make sure the flame and orifice are clean free from debris or rust. Propane should burn blue not orange. Incorrect gas setting if the flame is orange. Some yellow at the tip is ok. Proper adjustments are critical. Have you tried the unit on AC?
Other tips I have read indicate possible freezing in the back.
Defrost freezer completely as some here mentioned and restart see if this helps. Here is a good RV forum I saw good tips worth investigating.

If your not comfortable cleaning the jets and adjusting the flame have a professional do this. Safety comes first!
Good luck!

I have a Dometic RM3801 rv fridge that was working fine on 120v and then stopped cooling. All the lights come on but the compressor won't run. It is level and the cooling fins are clean. I checked power at...

your refrigerator is an ammonia absorption system it does not have a compressor only a series of closed pipes and small tanks located behind the styrofoam box so; to operate yout refrigerator you need: a propane flame or, a 12 volt heating coil or an AC transformer to heat the system depending on if you have a 1,2,or, 3 way system.
also; these refrigerators will only work if you are on level ground
so check your fuses, transformer and, or, your gas thermocouple:
the thermocouple is a rod that sits in the burner flame to control the gas valve if you see some yellow dust around the back of the refrigerator you have a leak of the sealed system don't buy a new refrigerator just replace the system and, be sure that you remove the twisted metal riser in the top of the refrigerator vent pipe to use in your new system or, nothing will work the ammonia absorption sealed systems can be bought on ebay etc.

Dometic RM 3662 not working on gas or AC power. I've changed the heat element, I can see the flame of the burner. What's going on that the unit won't cool off. Tried gas for 5+ hours and the fridge seemed...

When running on Electric insure that the rear coils of the cooling unit are getting warm. If the refrigerator is level and the coils are warm and the refrigerator does not cool then you more then likely will require a replacement cooling unit. ammonia absorption refrigerators need continuous heat either by
a heating coil powered by a transformer or, a propane flame
check/replace your gas thermocouple or, transformer to the heating coil located on the refrigerator back

My Dometic RM2852 only cools when LP (Propane) Gas is turned on. Why won't it cool with AC only?

Good chance element is faulty. If you have a multimeter, carefully remove cover on circuit board and check voltage at terminals where element connects for 120Volt AC (hydro). The element is the round rod that slides in side of your stack and 2 black wires go from it back to circuit board. Make sure you have door open and fridge is calling for cool, otherwise you won't get voltage reading there. Best way to make sure it's calling for cool, is to open door, switch to propane, then when it lights on propane, you know it's calling for cool, then switch to AC (hydro) operation to test. If you get voltage reading from spades on board, and element isn't getting hot to touch within 10 minutes, replace element.

I bought at Dometic propane/ electric fridge for my cabin last year. It has not run properly since. The fridge will light and run for a while with a blue flame but sometimes in the idle mode it goes out....

I have to ask, what is idle mode? I've never seen one that runs on idle mode, in a RV in 15 years. Has anyone used a manometer and tested Inches of water column in propane supply to fridge, as well as other appliances?
Any I've seen run on propane, are either on, (flame present, or off, no flame present.) Flame goes out completely when not calling for cool.
