Ice maker is overflowing, I replaced the valve and the water is still overflowing the tray

I have a frigidaire. The ice maker over flows the tray and runs into the bin. I have replaced the valve and it didn't fix the over flow. Can anyone suggest anything?

The icemaker works, it is a filling problem.

This is usually a problem with the icemaker. The only fix is to replace it.

I understand your thinking. But the icemaker controls the valve. It could be keeping valve open too long or more likely it is a problem called wicking. This is caused by sediment build-up in icemaker which causes water to leak out of icemaker when it fills. I have changed 3 icemakers in the last 2 weeks with the same problem and that fixed all of them.

Water from ice maker leaks into freezer and freezes door shut

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/frigidaire-valve-242252702-ap5671757.html

It sounds to me like the valve is not closing all the way and allowing water to flow when it should not. This overflows the tray and allows water to run to the bottom of the freezer. It could also be a timing or switch issue. IF you want to be sure replace the valve and if that does not work then replace the whole icemaker.

Thanks for being there. I bought a Whirpool refrid/ freezer on top from a friend and the water pump behind ans at the back of the unit was broken. I had a repair man replace the water pump. What happens is...

If your ice maker was leaking before and after the valve replacement, it is likely the ice maker that is at fault. The ice maker energizes the water solenoid, its not a pump, which then opens to allow the pressurized water flow up to the ice maker. If the valve solenoid has been replaced, the culprit is likely the ice maker itself. The valve should only be open for about 7-9 seconds, but if the ice maker motor is slow, or if there is some other malfunction with the ice maker, it will energize the valve for too long, causing it to then overflow. It could also be a hairline crack in the ice maker mold that is causing it to leak.

Ice Maker Overfills With Water

Ice maker has adjustment on right side of power head. If ice maker is inside on upper left, you can remove white cover from it and the adjusting screw in on right. Turning counter-clockwise will decrease fill by 1/2 to 3/4 of ounce. Sounds like a small amount, but ice make only uses 4 ounces per fill. If this does not fix, try replacing fill valve. If ice maker ice bin is in the freezer door, you have to remove cover to ice maker in the top of freezer. Ice maker is screwed into top of freezer and need to be removed to take off cover to adjuster screw. same procedure for reducing water flow time as above.

Frigidaire water leaks

I suspect that when the water valve was replaced, that the plug's were reversed that provide the power to the valve. Exchange the two plugs on the water valve and you may find the problem is fixed.

Ice maker over flows with water

There is an orifice that controls the water flow to the ice maker . If to much water is being fed to the ice maker it will result in an overflow. You may want to check the pressure of the water system in your house.

If the overflow is being caused by a continuous feed to the ice maker your electric valve supplying the water may not be reseating after it shut off electrically. If this is your problem obtain a new valve assembly to replace it.

Ice maker overflows with water

yes, in fact the icemaker does meter the amount of water delivered to the icemaker, the valve should only be energized for 7 seconds. after that the power is cut off, so if valve continues to let water flow, it's bad (might have debris from water line keeping it open. unserviceable. )
