SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer won't release beater

I had this same problem as well.  The beater was stuck like glue to the rotating arm, and it would not budge with any amount of pressure.  I tried the cooking spray and it did nothing.  But today I put a rag in hot/boiling water and then carefully wrapped it around the top of the beater.  I let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I put the rag in hot water again and repeated the process for about another 5 minutes.  When this was done, I covered the beater in a towel (to protect it) and forcefully tapped (ok... I pounded) it with the flat side of my meat tenderizer (it was all I had...you could use a mallet or hammer).  It took a little bit of work because I had to hammer it from the bottom, then the side, then the top to get the little spoke guided through the shaft.  But it did finally come off.  After cleaning with hot water, I put the beater on again and noticed that it was still a little hard to get on/off.  So, I put a little bit of veg. oil on it, and it seems to be better.  Going forward, I will be sure to clean the top of the beater & arm after each use and then coat it with a little oil to keep from sticking.  Best of luck!

SOURCE: Beater rubs bottom of mixing bowl.

JOE:You don’t say if you have a ‘tilt-head’or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number (in your case, use KSM90P)and select the last file listed that appear under Owners Manuals:KSM90PSWW0.pdf (2930.74 KB)and save that file to your PC.You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height.I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beaterjust clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits thebottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.

SOURCE: does stand mixer work in india ?

Hi VARSHA0803 - You would think that KA would make a 220-240v mixer for overseas sales, but I do not know if they do. You can contact KA Customer service directly on their website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/customer-service/ Check the "Contact Us" box which provides you a toll-free phone number, or if you scroll down you'll find a 'Live Chat' link, where you can 'chat' online with a KA assistant who should be able to answer your questions.
I hope this helps. Good Luck! Howard from Burke, VA

Kitchen Aid flat beater leaves carbon on my hands and food

Are you using the white coated beaters or the burnished beaters. If they are the white coated beaters then the finish has come off and the zinc/underneath is rubbing off. Are you using the aluminum looking beaters in heavy acidic applications? if the mixer is new go to kitchaid customer support they will re-place. if your mixer is out of warranty then you need to replace it. about 15.00 t0 24.00 USD. if the problem persists then you may be leaking metal shavings from the planetary head, (I don't think it is happening but it is a possibility) if it is ground metal shavings you have a serious problem. I can't say anymore without knowing more. What application are you getting this result. is it all the time. is it after the mixer sits along time. need more info.

Need beaters for a black and decker SM100 mixer

I searched for replacement beaters for Blacker & Decker SM-100 type 1 (SM100) electric stand mixer for years. I found the Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer Replacement Beaters for stand mixers, item 4955, at a large Ace hardware store. They were priced over $16.00, so you may consider buying a new stand mixer. The beaters are the correct length, snap in and grip correctly even though the ends are curved like a half ball rather than flat as the originals. The beaters turns well but I haven't tested them with the bowl because I need to find the turn table that I have in storage. The beater set was design ed to replace parts for Sunbeam stand models 2355-1, 2356-1 and 2360-2.

I have a grey film on my flat metal beater anyway to remove?

Gray film may be a result of tarnishing. The metal beaters are made of a burnished aluminum material. The burnished aluminum may not be washed in a dishwasher, cannot be left to soak in a sink, and must be towel dried immediately after washing as opposed to being air dried. If this has been done incorrectly, this may lead to tarnishing of the beater, which can be described as a "grey film."

Help with replacement parts

Your beater to bowl adjustment may have come out of alignment, which can happen over time with normal use of the machine. This simply means that the flat beater may be contacting the bottom of the bowl.

In your mixer's Use and Care Guide, the beater to bowl adjustment is covered and will provide easy instructions to follow about how to adjust your beater back into proper position.

There are burnished aluminum beaters available. That is to say, they do not have the food-safe nylon coating on the outside of them. Burnished aluminum beaters may not be used in the dishwasher, require hand-washing, no soaking, and immediate towel drying. Failure to follow exact washing instruction with burnished aluminum beaters may result in tarnishing of the beaters.
