Bad capacitors. They're cheap. Look for the ones closest to where the power cord comes in to the main pcb board. This will be your power supply circuit. Change them! They're probably dried out. If they're bubbled up, they're also bad. They're so cheap though, just replace them all.

I had the same fault with my Toshiba rear projection TV. I found the problem to be the two STK392-110 convergence chips. These seem to be a common problem with this type of TV. You probably have also recently experienced convergence problems where colour fringes will be evident, particularly on static images like on screen menues.

WARNING - don't carry out the following unless you have experience of electrical appliance repairs. Voltages inside a TV can be lethal!

Unplug the TV and remove the back panel. Look for the convergence board usually on the left. This will have two very large heat sinks on it to which the STK chips are mounted and will have three connectors marked red, green and blue with wires from these leading to the convergence coils on the respective guns. Mark the connectors so they go back in the correct place and remove all three. Plug the TV back into the mains and switch on. If the protection circuit does not turn the TV off again with these connectors removed then both of the STK chips probably need replacing.

Let me know if this helps.

As well, you can try different screen resolutions and refresh rate settings on the video section of your computer. That might make the connection to the TV more stable.

Samsung T.V. goes on for 30 seconds then no picture

If this is a flat panel LCD tv, this is a sure sign that the panel itself is bad. I have seen this before. Tv comes on works fine then within 5 minutes goes blank.
