If you let it continue, you will have a piece of junk. You take the bolts off holding the motor cover on and you lubricate the upper bushing with oil. They are oil impregnated bushings and will soak up a thin type oil best and last longer. Use 10W or 3-in-1 oil or Marvel Mystery oil.

SOURCE: ear piercing whistle

Its an inherent problem with any Dynammite model = the fact that the motor is at the front means that it is extremely noisy.

SOURCE: My Kirby G3 makes a loud, high pitch whistle with the hose

I would say you either have something stuck on the impeller or there is a piece of paper or something stuck inside the hose. its not clogging the hose but when the air passes by it. It is making that noise. If you find nothing you may need a repair. May have a bad bearing in the motor. Actually you can also try inspecting the brush on the head. It removes easily from vacuum and should spin freely and quietly.

SOURCE: when vaccuming with the hose it has a high pitch

try taking the hoses off, first. Check and see if their is a clog. Ususally if their is one, its in the unit itself and not the hoses. TO get at the clog, try using a metal cloths hanger. Its the only thing i have found around the house that works at getting at clogs.

SOURCE: I have a Fein Turbo

It sounds like the bearings in the motor are shot. You can try to get a replacement motor, or if you're a mechanical genius type, you might be able to repair the motor bearings. If the shaft is worn, you'll have to buy a new motor.
You can try oiling or greasing them, but they're hard to get at (and sometimes sealed) and this rarely has worked, in my experience.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

My dc33 brush bar won't spin and there's a high pitched whistle. The belt seems to have plenty of tension and I tried the clutch "reset" trick. What do I do next?

Your belt may look fine and spin the brush roll but could still be slipping. There are two belts on your model if it has the clutch to shut off the brushroll. The whistle sound usually indicates a clog or restriction somewhere.

My vax vacuum has started making a high-pitched whining/whisting noise

Ususally this is caused by a forein object has gotten hung in the suction impeller attached to the motor. the noise flucuates due to the housing flexes with the movement of the handle and rod. the housings are usually made of plastic and something very small can easily get stuck in it and stay for a very long time. The vacuum needs disassembled and the forien object removed from the fan housing...
Hope this helps
Sincerely
Roger
