The bottom part of the refrigerator is not cooling, freezer is ok

Are you sure about the model number being MTF2153GES? Usally when the fresh food section warms up it is an indication that there is a problem with the defrost system. If your model number is correct MTF2153GES then the refrigerator has a defrost timer behind the controls inside the fresh food section. I need to see if the defrost timer is stuck and causing the refrigerator to miss defrost. The defrost timer is=> 68233-3 Defrost Timer Let me know about the model number so I can continue to help solve this problem. . I am here should you need me, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

Necht under-worktop fridge N2 stopped cooling. No freezer compartment. Only 6 months used. Help!

Trudy ! If the fridge is new i would suggest you ring the supplier as unit should still be under warranty . If second hand i would suggest calling a refrigeration mechanic as the fault sounds elactrical . Themostat , defrost timer , compressor windings or starter, even a damaged lead could give you the same issue . Hope you have luck with this one !

Replacing defrost timer,needs manuel

I check there is no free manual for Kenmore, I find. Better follow these steps to replace defrost timer.

Unplug the refrigerator. Locate the defrost timer. The timershould have four metal terminals coming from the bottom of the unit. It isusually situated behind the refrigerator, in the refrigerator's control panel, the freezer compartment toward the front of the cabinet or behind a metal kickplate on the bottom of the refrigerator. Older Kenmore models may have it builtinto the ice maker. Remove the defrost timer by takingoff the kick plate (if there is one) and removing any screws attaching it tothe refrigerator or freezer. Carefully pull the timer out from the wall of theunit so you can disconnect the wiring from the connectors. If removal isdifficult, try wiggling the connectors back and forth to help loosen them andpull on them firmly. Plug the wire connectors into thenew defrost timer and replace the timer in the refrigerator. Secure with screws, replace coverand plug in refrigerator.
Thanks and helpful?

The refrigerator quits cooling. If I unplug it and let it sit for a while then plug it back in, it start cooling again. I think the defrost timer may be malfunctioning.

yes, this is a defrost timer failure, mine went out recently, the best way to check is when it stops cooling to look in the freezer were the condenser is if it is frosted then the defrost timer is bad. (sears supplier) might have it.

Need location of defrost timer

The refrigerator you listed does not have a defrost timer. All defrost and refrigerator functions are controlled on rear of the refrigerator. It's called a mother board. If it s damaged you will sometimes see burns on one of the both sides, but not always. Another problem could be that your defrost element or defrost thermostat is defective. You can see your refrigerator below by putting the model GSS201EMBWW into the model search feature. I am here to help you if you want, Thanks Sea Breeze

Here is another link here on FixYa that shows the mother board

Fan in fridge works but the fridge doesn't get cold. It's a small sunbeam fridge.

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

Hello I am having a problem with my Beverage Air UCF48A Frezzer and was hoping you can help? The problem is this. When I first start the unit it works fine and gets cold fast but then the next day or so it...

You should check the defrost timer, it is located in the back, probably on the left. The timer can stick. Next time your unit is hot inside, remove the back and turn the defrost timer clockwise (there is a little knob that clicks when you turn it) see if the unit comes on then. If it does you will need to replace this timer. If not you may have a thermostat problem or possibly a refrigeration problem. The part # for the timer is 502-171A. The part # for thermostat, if needed, is 502-111A check on to see who your local parts supplier is.

I recently had exactly the same problme with this model refrigerator. I found the problem to be the defrost timer. It is located behind the panel on the back of the refrigerator where the mains cord is located, you will need to replace it with the exact same model. I am in Australia and managed to find the exact part on ebay cheaply from a local appliance parts supplier, any appliance parts supplier that deals in Sharp refrigerators should be able to help you.

You will have to defrost the refrigerator overnight again before doing this repair.

Of course there are a couple of other components that could cause this problem, you can acutally check to see if the defrost time is moving by taking note of it's current position and then checking it every thirty minutes or so. If it does not move then it could be faulty, make sure also that power is getting to the timer as well.
