SOURCE: beeps several times and stops sewing.

I had the same problem. Through trial and error, I found the problem was with the thread tension. Usually the thread became wrapped around the spool holder as it was coming off the spool. As you continue to press the pedal, tension is created. When you release the pedal, some slack develops in the threading process and you are able to sew a few more stitches before the beeping starts again. If the thread is caught on the spool holder, simple re-thread the machine. That generally works for me. Also you can try to push to spool holder in as close as possible to the spool pin to alleviate any gaps. If the beeping continues to happen, place you thread in a cup behind the machine and thread as usual. You can also purchase an inexpensive thread holder. I made one out of a wood block and other odds and ends found around the house. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Persistant beeping

Look for the buttonhole lever, just behind the needle threader lever. Pull it down and push it up again. The machine gives a warning message if you want to sew and the button hole lever is down. Good luck!

How do I find out why my sewing machine isn't sewing right?

We can sew about 2 to 4 inches then the thread that goes through the needle snaps off & when you examine the back of the material the bottom stitch is loose. What is wrong?

I have a singer 7258 that I can not get the tension to loosen up on. The top stitch is straight across and adjusting dial doesn't help.

Hello

Adjust the tension

Load your sewing machine with one color on top, threaded through the needle. Load the second color thread into the bobbin and thread.

Fold the scrap fabric in half, and sew a straight stitch at least 2 inches long. Look closely at the seam. If you see loops of the bottom color thread on top of the fabric, proceed to Step 3. If you see loops of the top color thread on the bottom of the fabric, proceed to step 4.

Loosen the top tension. Since the top tension is so tight, it is pulling the bottom thread up through the fabric. Loosen the top tension by turning the numbered knob on the front of the sewing machine counterclockwise by one number.

Tighten the top tension. Since the top tension is too loose, the bottom thread is pulling the top thread down through the fabric. Tighten the top tension by turning the numbered knob on the front of the sewing machine clockwise by one number.

Sew a straight stitch 3 inches in length. Check the stitching. It is perfect if the threads meet in the middle, and you can only see the top thread on top and the bottom thread on bottom. If it still needs adjusting, go back to step 2 to repeat the needed steps.

Using two different colored threads makes it easier for you to see which thread is being pulled.

Always use proper precautions when working with electrical machines.

I have cleaned and oiled the machine. Re threaded it several times, tried to adjust the dial in different directions, still to no avail --- the top thread shows up on the bottom of what I am sewing. ...

You need to fine-tune the tension. The instructions I'm going to give you will work with any sewing machine and can be repeated for any type of fabric you sew in the future where this happens. Use a scrap of the material you're sewing with that's a few inches long and a couple of inches wide. Also, it helps if you use different color threads in the top and the bobbin thread.

Thread your machine with the presser foot UP. The disks that control the tension (threadgoes through them) are tightened up if the foot is down. Change the machine tension with the presser foot DOWN.Because the disks won't be engaged (see above) if the foot is up, the diskswon't move. Start at the middle setting, 3. Go up to tighten, decrease toloosen. Each machine is different, even 2 different machines of the same model. The best thing to do is start at 3 and use a different color in the top andbobbin thread so you can easily see what changes to the tension do to yourstitches. Now use a straight stitch a sew 3 or so inches. Take a lookat the top and bottom of the fabric. You don't want to see any (or at least notmuch) of the other color showing from the other side. Loops on the bottom of the fabric means you need to tighten(increase) your top tension. If you're stitches on the bottom are causingpuckering, then you need to loosen you're top tension. For the most part, youreally don't want to touch your bobbin tension-leave that to a repairtechnician. The factory setting shouldn't be touched except by someone whoreally knows what they're doing. Keep sewing a few inches at a time until you have the resultsyou want. Now you're tension is where you need it!

Top threaded needle will not grab bobbin thread so I can begin sewing.

you might check your needle to see if it's bent
check in the bobbin area for any lint or loose threads
make sure there is a bobbin tail at least 2 to 4 inches long
hold the top thread tail ( at least 2-3 inch tail) as the needle goes down
to pick up the bobbin thread

Why does my top thread break after about 2 inches when sewing

Hello. The tension needs to be adjusted. When the top thread breaks, often the top thread breaks when the top tension is too tight. Go to this link to learn more. http://www.ca.uky.edu/HES/fcs/FACTSHTS/CT-MMB-213.pdf
