Re: computer wont recognize the camera
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

if it has a card use it in a card reader and copy the photo-s from it ....cause when it says that the usb device is not recognized..than something is wrong with the driver and should be reinstalled..The driver it is either removed or corrupted..or if it is a plug and play device ..and the driver is not needed cause the windows sees it right the way ..than the issue it is with the cable or the usb plug in the camera or in the computer ..Try to change the usb you plugged in ...that also try to reload the drivers by running them from the disk that came with the camera...and in final try the camera in another computer cause there may be an issue with the computer's operating system and cause the device not to be recognized...
Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.
Here are the few things that you might want to check. 1) When you connect your camera to the USB of your computer and switch on the camera ... Does your computer recognize that an USB device has been attached to it? It would generally show a balloon on right hand side bottom corner in windows OS and would show a green arrow icon in the system trey when the device is ready to use. Do you see any new drive letter in "My computer"?
If you Do Not .. then
Right click on "My computer" --> Properties --> Hardware tab --> Device manager button .. Under the USB devices do you see any Red "X" or "!" marks?
Right click and un-install the devices with Red X or "!" marks.
Then disconnect the camera and then reconnect the camera back to the computer and this time the computer should recognize and reinstall the camera and this time it should work fine.
If not then please let me know if the computer recognizes any other USB devices like printer and modem ...
Please let me know the above and I would be glad to assist you ahead..
you have several options.
1. see first what operating system you computer runs.
if it is vista or mac, it will be recognized as unknown device,
look for SSCAM100 or DCIM folder. you will then see the camera files in that folder.
2. you should also download the cd driver, the cd that comes with the camera, to your PC. this will help the connection be proper.
3. if you're using desktop, try to connect the camera at the back of your tower. look for a USB port at the back of the tower and connect USB cord to it.
4. make sure you're using the proper USB cable, the cable that comes with the camera. for your S630, it is USB cable type 2.
5. also, make sure before you connect camera to PC, camera is turned off, when the USB cord is properly connected, that is the time camera should be turned on.
6. when unpluggin the camera to PC, make sure that you are safely removing the device from the PC so you will not have future connection problems.
