SOURCE: 4 ohm and 8 ohm speakers

You can plug in higher ohm speakers , the higher the ohm the higher the resistance is, it is a danger when you plug lower ohm speakers into a higer ohm Amp , at a high volume that will cause them to blow , the center speaker would be fine to use a higer ohm speaker , your best choice is to buy a Active Subwoofer, which means the sub has it's own power supply , and u can blast the thing as much as u like , thn u can turn the bass down on all the other speaker's so u can play it louder , and have the sub turned up has high as u like , this is the best way to get great sound with high volume , buy a Active sub woofer , any active subwoofer is ok , a active sub woofer has its own volume and inputs on the speaker ,

SOURCE: replacing sub speaker

I wouldn't try reinventing it by replacing the driver. Drivers and their enclosures are designed to work together. And this being a self-amplified subwoofer, there is one more piece that's electrically optimized to the rest. Don't mess with it.

Why don't you just set your receiver's individual relative speaker volume levels so the sub isn't weak by comparison to your other speakers? Weakness, as you call it, is relative.

Is your receiver properly channeling Low Frequencies to the sub? Experiment with the cutoff, too.

This problem doesn't require meatball surgery.

4-8 ohm output

it is load resistance. set the amplifier switch to the resistance ( X amount ohms) to match your speakers. Although running 4 ohm speakers at the 8 ohm setting is louder, it will hurt your amp
most home/semi pro speakers are 8 ohm, while car speakers are 4 ohm. If you are doing a multi speaker pa/intercom install use your formula to calculate total load is 2 8 ohm speakers in parallel are four ohms . express them as fractions and add the denominator ie:8/1 +8/1 = 8/2 or 4/1 or 4. now connect that in series (add the top numbers)with another 2 speakers in parallel and you get back to 8 ohm load. repeat the same process over and over and you can hook up to 32 speakers to the amp without needing the 70 volt tap. hope this helped.

I have a Makita BMR100 radio. Stock speakers are 3.25" 8 ohm with an 8 watt 8 ohm amplifier. I replaced speakers with better 4" 4 ohm but they're not really compatible with an 8 ohm amp. I...

Buy an 8 ohm speaker and wire it in series-parallel look up images of of combination series-parallel wiring this allows wiring all speakers and keeping the 8 ohm loaf on the amplifier. Should get more linear volume between speakers. Not sure if replacement is worth it, those speakers are pretty good and work well with rain and jobsite conditions. I am planning to install some 8 ohm half inch tweeters on my Makita radio and using the series parallel wiring. Plead note series-parallel wiring is not series wiring or parallel wiring. It is s totally different way of wiring it that uses both names.

I am installing a MDS-6a system in my home Must I use all 8 ohm speaker thru up the house ? Can I use 6 ohm ,can I mix ? Thanks

That depends on the amp. If the amp is rated at 6 Ohm's you can, but it's best to stick to the same ohm speakers. If it is rated at 8 Ohm NEVER connect 6 Ohm speakers. The golden rule you can go higher but NEVER lower than the amps rated output. So if it says 6 to 8 ohms on the amp you can use the the 6 ohms speakers.

Can I install 4 6 ohms speakers on an 8 ohms a/v receiver? receiver Sony STD HD 800 speaker system: Jamo S413 HC S5 Home theatre system,

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters An ohm is a unit of electrical resistance. You can think of it as your speaker will impede or pull 8 ohms from the amplifier that is powering it.

8 ohms is less resistance than 4ohms. So a 4 ohm speaker would require more juice than your 8 ohm.

If this is the only speaker, then that's all the resistance you have to worry about handling. If you had two of these speakers wired in parallel, then the total impedence would be up to be 4 ohms, because each speaker actually reduces the resistance in the circuit...so 8 ohms + 8 ohms = 4 ohms.

You use this information to make sure your amplifier is powerful enough for the speakers. If the speakers have too much resistance, they'll fry your amp.

Here's a good sentence to help explain, but I recommend reading the article I linked in sources...

"An amplifier designed to put out 100 watts into 8 ohms will put out 200 watts into 4 ohms. Two 8 ohms speakers wired in parallel (4 ohms total) would cause the amplifer to produce 200 watts." Source(s): http://www.marktaw.com/recording/Electro…

My speaker set up boston acoustics ba7500 will'nt

The Guys at Boston Acoustics helped me get my speakers to work. The Boston BA7500 speakers are coaxial digital speakers so you need a digital output on your sound card. Analog will NOT work. My new HP Pavilion has a Realtek sound card with a digitial RCA plug output. I had to go to Amazon and get a male RCA to 1/8" Stereo Mini Female adapter plug. I just pluged it in and configured my sound card to 16 bit 48 khz output to the RCA output and everything works great. The speakers sound better then ever, great for 10 year old speakers! They sound better then anything I have seen avalable today. The guys at Boston were the only guys that helped with getting this to work! Thanks again to them and Amazon has every type of adapter plug you may need. Good luck.
