How do I properly operate the Turbo Boil on my new Kenmore range?

Turboboil is a feature offered on a number of Kenmore electric ranges and cooktops. Without you model number it's hard to get into specifics - but turboboil is a special, high wattage heating element that delivers up to 3KW of energy to a specific heater on the cooktop. If I understand correctly, you would only use this setting when you wish to bring water to a boil in the shortest period of time possible - then change to a normal burner heat setting to maintain the temperature of the water in the pot.

Remember, an electric heat element is turned "full on" and "full off" as needed to maintain temperature (unlike a dimmer knob controls a light bulb). The turbo boil turns on a "double heater" to rapidly heat the water - after water reaches 212 degrees, it can not be heated any further (it turns into steam) so you should switch to a normal burner mode from that point forward.

Why would pontiac 2000 grand am overheat while driving in the mountains?

It could be your radiator is partially blocked or your water pump is not working properly, could also be a blown head gasket or cracked head or timing. Several things that could be causing the problem

What is the high temperature range for the coolant

Your question isn't a simple black or white question, it's all relative to how many PSI is your radiator cap and what mixture of anti-freeze your running, and also, how old or new the anti-freeze (coolant) is.

The pressure cap on a cooling system is the key to raising the boiling point of the 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. For every pound of pressure cap rating the boiling of point of the above mixture raises 3 degrees. If you had plain water in your cooling system with a 15 pound pressure cap the water would boil @ 257 degrees. If you had a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water the coolant would boil @ 265 degrees with a 15 pound cap. The boiling point would raise to 270 degrees if you had a 60% antifreeze mixture with a 15 pound cap. If you had a 70% mixture the boiling point would raise to 276 degrees.

Explain the different unit of temperature and give the relation between them

You have the Celsius Scale characterized by
Freezing Point of water :0 deg C
Boiling point of water : 100 deg C

The Fahrenheit Scale characterized by
Freezing Point of water :32 deg F
Boiling point of water : 212 deg F

If F is the value of a temperature on the Fahrenheit scale, the corresponding temperature on the Celsius scale is given by
C= (5/9)*(F-32)
If C is the value of a temperature on the Celsius scale, the corresponding temperature on the Fahrenheit scale is given by
F= 32 +(9/5)* C

How do I increase water temperature on Krups KP 2100

Heat the cup before you use it, run hot water over it, or boiling water. The machine does not make very hot coffee otherwise.

Hi, My car is boiling water and it goes our from the overflow pipe at the coolant level water tank. I let my car run for one hour standing on my driveway and the temperature was going to 222 and then the...

When sitting still, yes both fans on a car equipped with two fans will run. The temperature ranges you posted seem within acceptable range. That said, the water (coolant) should not boil at those high temperatures, but some overflow is expected/normal. Ensure that you are not adding pure water to the radiator and instead are premixing it with antifreeze coolant or adding premixed 50/50 that you can buy at auto stores as this will keep the water from boiling and freezing.

As an added point of information, the hose leading into the overflow jug is two-way, meaning that when the coolant in the radiator cools down enough, it creates a vacuum and pulls coolant back into the radiator.

Explain why there is spluttering sound when water is sprinkled on hot oil

Hello. When water is sprinkled on hot oil will sputter because the oil is at a temperature near or over 100 degrees C or 212 degrees F. This is the temperature where water boils. The sputtering that you hear is the water being boiled and creating steam. When the water boils and becomes steam, it expands extremely fast. This creates a "bubble" in the oil and the bubble "popping" makes the sputtering sound.

I recently bought an Avanti Art Deco 10 cup espresso machine and am disappointed that I cannot make HOT coffee with it. What can you suggest?

When the water boils in the bottom chamber the steam creates pressure and pushes the water through the grounds and into the top chamber. It's hard to imagine that the water going through the grounds is not close to boiling temperature unless you are using the coffee maker at high altitude where the temperature of boiling water would be lower.

Thermostat

It should open when it gets up to the opening temperature. Better way to test it is to put the water in the pot, hot from the tap, and put it on the stove. Put a thermometer in there too so you can monitor the temp. Drop in the thermostat, then heat the water on the stove. When it opens, note the temperature that the opening occurs at - then you can see if it's opening at the correct temperature. If you put it in boiling water, it'll open - but you won't know if it opened at the right temp.
