Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Whirlpool Duet Front Loader won't get up to spin speed

Our Whirlpool Duet Front loader is 2 years old. We replaced the CCU when we received an F01 error code thinking this would fix the problem. It didn't, although we no longer get an error code when doing a wash. What is happening now, is that the machine will not spin very fast, therefore the clothes are still very wet when the cycle finishes. Prior to replacing the CCU the spin cycle wouldn't spin at all, although it would spin for washing. The belt seems to be in good condition and is on properly. The washing machine will drain the water. Not sure what else to try here. Any advice would be helpful.

Hmm, the belt seemed tight, we watched it run through a whole cycle with the back off. Is there anything in particular we would notice or should be looking for if it is the bearings? Also, we cleaned the drain pipe and the filter trap by the pump. To no avail.

Here's an update, your input would be great. Since I'm so desperate to do laundry I decided to do a load than just hang it out on the line if it was sopping wet. Anyways, I watched the spin cycle and it worked perfectly, it was spinning at the very fast normal speed. So I tried another load, it didn't work. But at least now I know it isn't the motor. Do you still think it is the MCU that's causing this problem?

In short, it's working perfectly sometimes and ramping up to full spin speed but not all the time.

Note: the loads were the same size and weren't unbalanced.

We replaced both the MCU and CCU, $400 later it's working like new. Thanks for your help!

Careful of overloading the front-loading washers. Too much of this will result in the bearings in the drum to go bad. When this happens, the rpms on the drum slow down due to belt slack. You can only see this with the back off of the unit and in the middle of the cycle. They do not sell replacement bearings...you'll have to buy the whole drum (bearings pressed inside) and for 1/2 the cost of a new washer. I hate front-loaders. I'll never buy one again.

If the belt is tight and didn't slip off the pulley during use, I would say that the bearings are ok. Have you tried replacing the MCU (motor control unit)? The F01 error is a "death code" so you were correct in replacing the CCU. I'm just wondering when the damage was done to the CCU that it didn't do something to the MCU. Good luck and keep me posted!

I bought the Whirlpool Duet to replace my old standard washer & dryer and I find that the wash time is longer than the old washer. Even the quick wash takes about 1 hour. Am I doing something wrong...

I assume from your comment that your old washer was a top loader. Yes, front loading machines typically have longer cycle times than top loaders. There are several contibuting factors... first of all, the wash action of a front load is to oscillate the drum back and forth as well as provide a slow tumbling motion whereas a top loader w/ agitator or impeller has a more aggressive action. The more aggressive action rolls and tumbles your clothes more often and therefore cleans faster. Also, because front loaders spin very fast (up to twice as fast as top loaders) to reduce the amount of moisture left in the clothes, they need to have balanced loads. They accomplish this by testing and rebalancing your load several times during each cycle before beginning to spin.

That was a long answer to your question- no, you are not doing anything wrong.

Good luck.

Washer codes F01/F33, have cleaned the pump and

The F33 error code indicates a pump drive system error. If the pump ohms out correctly & the harness is secure I recommend replacing the CCU (central control unit).
Please see the following image provided for instructions.

Remember to disconnect power to the washer before attempting access.

F06 error with a ghw9150pw4 model whirlpool front loader washer

HI There
Here what you need on error codes.
Drive Motor Tachometer Error
The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes.

  • Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the Drive Motor
  • Check the MCU
  • Check the Wire Harness
Hope this helps let me know. Thank you for writing to fix ya.

Error code F01 on my whirlpool front loader? any help is appreciated

Hi, After about year and half Whirlpool duet sport gave F01 error code. The technician manual is located under the lower front panel. There are three possible reasons for F0: 1) EEPROM ERROOR. Unplug a washer for two minutes. Try running it again. (Did not work for me). 2) MAIN RELAYS ERROR. The tech manual suggests replacing CCU. The following is what I did and it fixed the problem, however. Unplug the washer. Remove the top cover by removing the three screws on the back. The CCU unit is in the right bottom corner if standing in front of the washer – it has a lot of wiring. Plug in the unit. While listening to the CCU start any washing cycle. After pressing START you should hear the relay to click. If it clicks twice, within a less than a second, it has a problem. Unplug the washer. Without disconnecting any wires remove the CCU cage from the washer wall. Stand now on the right hand side of the washer in such way that the CCU cage is under your left hand. Pull the right upper corner of the CCU plastic cage (it has a tab) away from you, slide the cage to the right by about an inch, and pull the entire cage away from you. Now knock on the back side of the cage 4-5 times with a bit of force (watch “Armageddon” movie for more instructions on it). Install the CCU cage back. Plug in the unit. Try some washing cycle again. If it did not help, repeat the procedure. If it did not work again, see the following. 3) PUMP DRIVE ERROR. The tech manual suggests replacing CCU. thanks
