If you've been using tap water, then you likely have hard water deposits (scale) on the heating element, which will eventually cause it to stop working. Try cleaning it with an overnight vinegar soak, or whatever is suggested in the manual if you have one. Once most of the deposits are gone, it shold work again. In the future, this will not happen if you use distilled (not to be confused with filtered) water. Good luck!

This vaporizer is supposed to run for 10 - 12 hours, and mine only runs for about 5. What can I do to change this?

clean out any deposits with white vinigar (soak for a few hours) or use a special cleaner for this ... the deposits will keep the unit from using all the available water .. if it is using all the water in 5 hours then your vaporizer may not be big enough for the area you are trying to humidify ..

How do I clean/sanitize my humidifier?

A solution of water and white vinegar will remove the mineral deposits built up from the water. Rinse "very" good, then wash out with a solution of 1 part bleach and 3 parts warm water.
