Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators
I removed the ice bin and crusher part to remove large chunks of ice freezing up the auger. Now it won't snap back on. It looks like the serrated fitting is lined up with the metal knob sticking up on the door and the blue latch is disengaged so the plastic parts line up. My husband squirted WD40 on both metal parts. Now he is getting a file to see if there is a bur causing it not to slide back on.

I had the same problem. When you put the spring back on the little arm towards the button, use a mini screwdriver or something to pull the spring back and pop the latch part back in the indented spots. Then, it will seem stuck but you just put some pressure on the curved side of the latch - opposite from the button and it will "pop" back into place.

If the ice will not go down the delivery outlet. the the augar will have to work harder than .normal .. try drying the out the delivery area // then use a food grade silcone and spray this . this may correct problem .. . also ck the seal on the door if bad it will let mosture in and cause poor delivery .. hope this helps mm. feed back pls ..

My ice maker quit dispensing too but the water worked and makes plenty of ice.
I read several fixes with auger motor and the red herring was that I had been working on the house and the circuit was off to the refrigerator. So I thought it might have been melted ice sticking the motor. Turns out that while it was off someone must have wanted ice really bad and pushed really hard or just happen to be time for the plastic retainers that hold the micro switch in place to break. I have a ED5PHEXRT00 Whirlpool and the control bracket is what I have to replace. You have to pry the front cover off from the bottom where there are some screwdriver slots, pop off to expose the controls and bracket. Micro switch was still good. Just ordered the part for 14 dollars plus shipping and tax.
