Question about Sony PFM-42X1N 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Sony Flat Panel tv with no Picture

Have Sony 42" Flat Panel TV (PFM-42X1/42X1N)  Turned TV On and was working fine when there was a click similar to the click heard when turning on the tv.  The Green light remained on as if the TV should work but the picture disappeared.  I believe a bulb is out but the manual doesn't say anything about specific bulb information.  Am I on the right track?

Re: Sony Flat Panel tv with no Picture

Flat panel TV's typically do not have "bulbs," but rather backlighting.  Plasma displays are especially touchy during movement.  I would suggest checking your warranty status, as it's probably not something you can easily repair.  If you wanted to take on the repair yourself, be careful not to lay down the screen, as it will drastically shorten the life of the Plasma display.  I would start with checking the system boards for possible damage, since you did hear a "click," It was probably a fuse, chip, etc.

Sony Tv PFM-42 V1 doesn't show any picture or tv menu

This is a common problem with plasma tvs You did not mention whether you could generate any sound like through your dvd player or something like that. Whether you have audio or not makes a difference on which board may be causing you the problem. Just because it does not have a picture for tv viewing does not mean it won't produce some type of sound through your av1 input. Try it and I'll try to be more specific.

Watching Cable TV

this Sony is a MONITOR not a TV. You need a cable box or a satellite tuner/receiver. There is no built in TV Tuner in this model
