Since you did not give us the model, it is impossible to tell you exactly how to do this.
You need to get to Settings/Sounds/Notifications or a similar menu description. How Nextbook Tablets Work HowStuffWorks

You have no sound on just Youtube? Or is it anything that should be playing sound? If the latter, you might try clicking the Mute button on the right side edge of your iPad. If it shows orange, it's on mute, slide the switch to unmute. If that makes no difference, try turning up the volume, by pressing up on the long button just below the Mute slider.
you can turn your volume down which will then only work the vibrate motor or in settings go to "sound" change sound mode to either mute or vibrate instead of sound. you can set vibration intensity to low for notifications. also under "ring and notifications" change your notification tone silent at the top of the list.
If you hold the power button down a menu pops up - the last option is for mute/unmute. Make sure this is not set to mute.
If this doesn't help, it could be that some app you are running is muting the sound. Close all apps and see if that helps. Power off/on and see if that helps. If you do determine it is an app that's causing the problem, add a comment about it in the Play Store so the developers will know and hopefully fix it.
All you do is turn off the screen sounds and screen lock then hit the mute but on sound and notifications and walla all of these other people try so hard and my user account on ps3 is NEXION218 peace check my vids on YouTube macahima subscribe I'm a kid 11 I know fasinating
right click on the speaker icon in your taskbar, select Open Volume Control. If you do not see the Microphone control select options>properties and select it from the list of check boxes. Press OK. Check the mute box for your microphone.
