Considerable oil consumption with no visible leaks and a p301 code on my '01 e-250

p301 indicates number 1 cylinder is misfiring, that with the oil consumption, would indicate either worn valve stem guide,or worn piston rings to check you need to carry out a compression test,if compression is low the head would have to be removed to see which of the above is the culprit

2003 blazer p301 code ive changed coil plugs check engen still flashing when accelerating

The flashing light means the problem is serious enough to damage the catalytic converter.
The code means cylinder 1 is not producing power. So it could be fuel, compression, or ignition related.

Oil type

I don't know what a pope spitfire is, but the post indicates it's a pushmower -- in that case, I would use 30 W non-detergent.

1972 Triumph Spitfire, 3rd gear grinding

Jumping out of third was a common problem with the Spitfire quick changing up from forth gear would beat the syncro and chip the teeth on the drive dog then the bits would stop the syncro from engaging fully and it would jump out. If you replaced the syncro and the drive hub it may just be a bit stiff, the selector also wore quite quickly and misaligned the drive hub causing it to be hard to select.
I will scratch about in my very old manuals and see if I can find the spitfire gearbox manual, If I can I will post it.
