Why does The freezer side stays cold but the refrigerator side gets warm

Your problem is more than likely a defrost issue. There is ice building up in the freezer coils and when it gets blocked with ice the cold air cant blow into the fresh food section. When you shut it off the ice melts and it gets cold again for a few days. remove the freezer back panel and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. if they check OK then check the defrost timer. It is best to replace all three components at the same time. This way you will be starting out with new components rather than one failing then the other.

Kenmore classic bottom freezer refrigeration warm but freezer is cold

I would guess you have just caused a build up of ice to block the air way, which normally takes cold air into the fridge. manually defrost (unplug and wait until the ice goes away) then restart and it should be fine

Bottom frezzer is working but fridge is not blowing cold air

Refrigerator gets cold air from freezer compartment. Either the air flow is blocked by food items or ice, or the recirculating fan is not working.

The most common failure is that the freezer coils get all iced up becuase the defroster timer, defroster thermostat, or heater has stopped working.

When it's running, you should feel cold air blowing out of the vents that are in the fridge, otherwise, the 'air tower' (air vent) is blocked with ice.

If you manually defrost the whole thing, and it runs fine for a day or so, then it's not defrosting properly. If you manually turn the defroster timer, and you don't hear the scorching/hissing/gurgling of the defroster working, then that would confirm a fault in the defroster circuits.

Based on the following thread, it's probably a bad defrost thermostat.

Should be covered alright. Sounds like the defrost therostat is open. Is you defrost heater coming on. It doesn't seam like it is. As you frig runs it's cycle it will turn off the compressor every hour or so and the timer will turn on the heater in your freezer to defrost. Do you feel this heater coming on. If you therostate mounted on the defrost ellement fails to close then your heater will not come on and ice will build up in you freezer. These thermostates seam to be failing more and more these days. I've replaced mine 3 times over the last few years.

Ice builds up on evaporator coils. After chipping off the ice, refrigerator is cold again. This lasts only a few weeks as ice builds up. Eventually, the freezer is cold but the refrigerator is very warmer....

Assuming this was originally a frost-free model, either the defrost cycle timer died or the defrost heating element died. If it's the timer, you might be able to manually start and end a defrost cycle every few days. If it's the heating element, you may be stuck with what you're doing or an expensive repair or buying a new refridgerator.

Water leakage

It is possible that your refrigerator is not defrosting properly. If it has a timer defrost try to turn it slowly clockwise until you hear a click and about one minute you should hear a crackling noise indicating the freezer is in defrost. If the timer does not turn and defrost about every 8 hours I suggest you change the defrost timer. Let me Know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Kenmore Trio Refrigerator Fire Hazard PLEASE contact the US Consumer Product Safety Commission if you have experienced the bulb housing melting/potential fire problem with your Kenmore Trio refrigerator. Please file a report even if you experienced the problem months or years ago, and even if your problem was fixed under warranty or if you paid to have it fixed. You can file a report at their website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx or you can call them toll-free at 1-800-638-2772 or by send an e-mail to info@cpsc.gov I have already called to file a complaint, but more people need to do so if Kenmore is going to do the responsible thing and fix these dangerous units. Sears/Kenmore is clearly aware of this safety problem, but they will not repair it for free as they should. Kenmore wants $500 to fix this problem. If enough people complain to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, the manufacturer of this product will be forced to recall/fix the product. Please file a complaint before someone loses their home, or someone loses their life because of this defective product. Same issue for me. Noticed the light was on in the fridge last night (5/17/2009), and when I opened it, the light had melted the plastic casing and scorched the sockets and metal. The food on the top shelf was heated up. I used an oven mitt to unscrew the bulbs, but the casing is sitting on the top shelf. All of this happened in just over an hour, because we had put food away not long before and the temperature was fine then. Sears can't get a repair guy out for 10 days, and I'll still have to pay for the pleasure of having them fix their manufacturing issue. Two different repair people have told me that the service flash posted here means nothing to them. I've spoken with Sears customer service, who sympathized with the problem, but that was it. Filed a complaint with CPSC. It's a Kenmore 795.7730, bought January 2007.
