It's an A/V cable, which you can get from apple or buy aftermarket. Please see detailed link here. If you decide to find a generic plug, make sure the 1/8" miniplug has all three bands for AV.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Can I connect my to iPod Classic to watch video on Sony DVP-FX970 Portable DVD player? If so, what connection do I need?

The DVP-FX970 uses a composite (3xRCA) to mini-AV (2x mini-plugs) reducing cable. This is Sony part 9-885-103-56 and was included with the DVD player in the original packaging. See https://sony.encompass.com/item/7054170/Sony/9-885-103-56/Av_Cable_(010-0001-206) . Other vendors may also have the cable. You will also need an RCA (3xF) coupler, see http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40647/composite-video-stereo-audio-f-f-coupler-taa-compliant for one option. Connect the composite end of the above cable to one side of the coupler and the other side to the DVD player. Next connect the appropriate iPod Classic video dock, https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC748AM/A/apple-composite-av-cable , to the other side of the coupler and the iPod Classic. Now, turn on everything and press the Input Select button for the DVD player multiple times until the current input is 'Line In'.

I hope this helps.

Connect your iPod to your TV with a DIY cable
The iPod A/V Cable is stylish and handy, but you may feel it's not worth the money; the Belkin cable gives you twice the value per foot but costs the same overall. For a less expensive alternative, find a standard A/V cable with three RCA plugs at one end (coded red, white, and yellow) and a 1/8-inch A/V plug with three bands at the other end.
To set up your iPod for playback, plug the 1/8-inch connector into your iPod's headphone port, and then plug the yellow, white, and red RCA connectors into the RCA jacks on your TV in this non-color-coded way:

Can't remember password

I had the same problem. And I coudn't remember my SCREEN LOCK Password as your son. So what I did was I just disconnecteed my IPOD while it was connected to itunes without properly ejecting. This method doesn't retrieve or resets the password, it justs opens your ipod out of the screen lock. so your son can hear his music as usual until he can get a password retreive helper.

Jensen vm9412 and ipod classic

The newer generation iPods don't always work with the iPod connection kits in a lot of the car stereos. Some of the problem is due to the fact that the new generation iPods have been changed and the stereos were manufactured before the players were released so they are not compatible.
I bought my girlfriend a Pioneer car stereo with an iPod control cable, and it works fine with her Nano (not the new generation Nano) and it works with my iPod Photo 60 GB but it does not work with my iPhone 2G and I read that it is not compatible with the new Nanos or the Classics. Check with Jensen to see if the model you have is compatible with the Classic and see if there is a solution to the issue. It may not be compatible with the new video portion of the Classic firmware.

Cheers
