Look for the listing of the sound system on your computer under Device manager and delete it.
Go to Start, then Control Panel, then System folder, then Hardware tab, click on the Device manager, locate Sounds, video and game controller and expand it. Look for a company name such as Realtek, highlight and delete it.
Reboot your system. This should force Windows to reinstall (New Device found) the driver software that is probably corrupt thanks to Windows.
This should restore your sound unless there is a hardware failure (uncommon).    If it doesn't find the sound chip, you will have to replace the motherboard or buy an add-in card. The latter could bring new problems with it though.
You could also try the system Restore routine and back-date the system to a restore point before the music died.

Look up your motherboard model on the asus website and uninstall your sound drivers... all of them even those installed by windows itself from the device manager then install the driver from the asus website.
Check the services manager to be sure that the windowsaudio service is running and set to automatic also go to the sounds and audio devices icon under control panel and make sure you have a mixing device installed and your volume is not muted on your default device.

HI,

The only Thing To Do, is view both Motherboards, user Manuals.
To see The boards CPU Support List.
It could be to do with, certain Motherboards Supporting, certain CPUs.
I.e a 533mhz cpu, would not run on a Motherboard that supports 400mhz. The Systems Bios, May cause Other Problems.
If your getting a Black Screen, is it a possible Graphics/Ram Problem, Rather Than The CPU ??

Lost drive for sound

IF U HAVE deleted the sound card drivers from ur system
two ways
1. REINSTALL THE motherboard chipset drivers cd that u got when u purchased the PC.... it will surely resolve the problem 100%
OR

2 VISIT http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/

I WOULD RECOMMEND to install mother chipset driver CD available to u
If u dont have it then goto the above link and match which hardware u have in ur system for sound card and install the selective sofware...
Take care and best of luck

Motherboard for asus

I was unable to find the specific model of your motherboard on the Asus site or from a Yahoo lookup. However you may wish to try the following

Check for actual model number per Asus
http://support.asus.com/repair/repair.aspx?root=110&SLanguage=en-us

Then use either auto-direct to download or general information to locate your motherboard on this link.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

I hope this helps
