Question about Leica Optics
My Leica Disto D3 is using the batteries much more quickly than it used to, and the unit will not always turn on. It turns on by removing one battery and then reinstalling the battery. It then works normally (the distance button is the same as the power button) until it cycles off to save power. I have to pull the battery out and reinsert it again. With fresh batteries it works normally, but instead of going all day on a fresh set, it wears them out in an hour or so. I've used this unit for several years, and in general, it has been quite dependable, until now.

SOURCE: leica disto A3 button broke
Leica does not sell replacement keypads, if the unit is less than 2 years old they will cover it under warranty. Contact the dealer you bought it from and they can handle the warranty exchange. If it is over two years old, it is out of warranty, but they offer a "repair" option, which will replace your damaged A3 with a new D3 for about $215. If you bought it from a reputable dealer, you shouldn't have any problem.
Hope this helps,
