Question about Vizio SV472XVT 47 in. LCD HDTV
I had Netflix running and pulled up the menu using the Vizio button on the remote and selected to open Netflix a second time. The television tried to reopen the application that it was already running and crashed, resetting itself. Now whenever I press a direction button on the remote (i.e. volume up/down, select up/down, or even selecting a different input) it "holds" that selection. For example: I select to up the volume from 10 to 12, the television takes the volume as loud as it can. But I found that at least with the input and menu selections if I continue to select a direction it reads it as a new direction every time and doesn't keep going. I tried navigating the menu to the factory reset and succeeded but the issue wasn't fixed with that. I'm sure that sounds redundant but I wanted to give a good description of the issue.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Don't replace anything, Vizio has issued a lifetime warranty for this set because of this problem. No joke, call the customer service line and tell them you got the pop of death. They'll send someone out to 'repair' the set free of charge. If they can't fix it they'll give you a new one. Even if your mfg purchase warranty has expired. Call them and post the results. I've been fixing TV's longer than I care to admit and this is the first time I've actually seen a company stand behind their products like this. I bought a broken tv with the intent of fixing it and after replacing almost every board I could only manage to get the vertical racing stripe line, except mine was purple. I put it all back together and called to find out if there was a recall on this set and within 5 minutes the (Actual English speaking) gentleman told me to sit tight and he'd have a repairman come and do his thing. He did, and long story short, he couldn't fix it. Last week they delivered a new TV to replace this one. I was shocked. I think Vizio will have all my future business.

This would be a mainboard issue. Since it effects both video and sound. I would replace the M/B. It's easy to do. You will need to post the model number of you TV so I could post the correct part number.
After you get the a new M/B you woudl flip the TV over and remove all the screws. Pop of the back and remove the screws from the M/B cover. Don't forget to remove the screws around the input jacks. After that it's easy. Just replace the M/B and put it all back together and your surfing again.

This issue is actually caused by my cable box. Access the audio SETTINGS on Hand held Cable Remote, and turn on the HDMI and or "Digital Audio Out" option. found on 'more' settings list. This should fix the issue. I had assumed the Cable companeis 'Boot' would have installed this feature during its initialization.

SOURCE: BRAND NEW JUST TOOK OUT
I would not keep a new LCD TV that has immediate problems. I would get a refund and purchase a more standard brand television. Experience has taught me that if one has problems immediately with an LCD TV itself, it is likely to continue to be problematic.
Thank you for using FixYa.
