SOURCE: maytag gas dryer doesn't dry properly

SOUNDS LIKE A RESTRICTION IN THE VENT. CHECK AIR FLOW WHERE VENT EXITS HOUSE. IF IT IS NOT STRONG, INSPECT VENT LINE BEHIND DRYER. IS IT CRUSHED OR CLOGGED WITH LINT? THIS WILL CAUSE DRYER TO SHORT CYCLE. IF VENT IS NOT CLOGGED, CHECK AIR FLOW AT BACK OF DRYER WITH VENT DISCONNECTED. IS AIR FLOW STRONG? OF NOT, PROBLEM IS WITH BLOWER.

Why is my maytag electric dryer not heating, I checked the high limit fuse for continuity, it's fine, I pulled the heating element and saw no breaks it also checked good on continuity

Several things can cause this. Improper voltage, inadequate venting, thermostats, fuses, burnt wiring, heating element, timer, or motor. Someone will have to troubleshoot all that v

My centennial dryer MEDC200XW1 wont start.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

There are several reasons your dryer will not start.
1.) Bad door switch?
2.) Plugged up with lint?
3.) Thermal fuse?

a.) On the back of your dryer is a hot air distribution manifold. It is easily un-bolted to remove. In the bottom of this manifold dryers get plugged up with lint. If you have a air flow problem your unit will shut down.

Your unit will also not run if you have a bad door switch.

But, here is where I am going to put my money on as your problem.

High limit thermostat on your heater element in the back of your unit.

  • The thermostat is functional to 221 degrees (Fahrenheit).
  • Install the thermostat in your dryer's heater element housing box. Be sure your dryer is unplugged during installation.
This High-Limit Thermostat part #3977767 Cost: $15.00

You can replace this part yourself.

Get back to me if this does not solve you problem. You cab jump the door switch.

Maytag dryer wont heat

Probably the timer. Remove the quick connect from the timer where the big red wire is that comes off the heating element. Check that leg with the leg next to it. moving the timer knob . You should get a meter reading. If you cannot get a read then that timer is fried inside. I did a video which shows one exactly like yours.

Maytag Model # DG612 Problem: no heat - do not see the heating element glow

Hello,

Per the model number you gave you have a gas dryer, the "heat element" is the ignitor for the gas and that could be the problem i have included a link to a youtube video that will show you how to test it.It does not need to be remover to test it just unplug it,if it test good here is a list of other possible causes
high limit thermostat
cycling thermostat
timer
motor
heat selector switch (the one that says high/low/air fluff)
flame sensor
gas valve coils

the part number for the ignitor is 4391996

here is the for video showing how to test ignitor

My dryer won't heat. Maytag DE410

Hi,

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.
Good Luck and have a nice day. Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Heats upon start-up then heat shuts off

This could be caused by a partially burnt heating element or a faulty high limit thermostat. The more likely cause ( I think) would be the high limit thermostat. It is a small round black device mounted on a metal plate. It is usually attached to the internal ductwork with two screws. You can test it with a multimeter for continuity. It should have none. If it has continuity, then it is stuck open and is defective. Hope this helped and best wishes.
