What makes it vapor lock

If it is a gas engine, its almost impossible to get vapor lock.
Vapor lock is when liquid gasoline turns to a vapor which will not flow thru a carburetor. The usual cause was hot fuel lines going to the carb.
Since the early 1980s engines have used fuel injection which uses liquid fuel under pressure.

Condensation

Condensation is the change in matter of a substance to a denser phase, such as a gas (or vapor) to a liquid.[1] Condensation commonly occurs when a vapor is cooled to a liquid, but can also occur if a vapor is compressed (i.e., pressure on it increased) into a liquid, or undergoes a combination of cooling and compression. Liquid which has been condensed from a vapor is called condensate. A device or unit used to condense vapors into liquid is called a condenser. Condensers are used in heat exchangers which have various designs, and come in many sizes ranging from rather small (hand-held) to very large.
The water seen on the outside of a cold glass on a hot day is an example of condensation.

How do you fix vapor lock?

Vapor lock is more or less impossible with a fuel injected engine.
Years ago when engines used a carburetor, liquid gas flowed thru the line from the tank and sat in the bowl of the carb until it was pulled thru the venturi into the intake. If the fuel line or carb became too hot, the liquid gas would vaporize.
Fuel injectors accomplish the same effect by spraying a vapor of fuel into the cylinders under pressure.

What is vapor lock?

Vapor lock is when a fluid in a closed system, such as in a hydrolic system, gets get hot enough to boil and produce vapor which unlike a fluid can be cimpressed thus rendering hydrolic systems inoperative. Fluids act as a solid when pressure is exerted on to them but in their gaseous state (vapor) they can be compressed and the pressure needed to move pistons is instead absorbed by the gas rather than applied to the pistons.

1988 ford bronco ll engine cuts off while driving. I could not get it started until the next day

Hello, why type of fuel do you use? You could have water in your fuel??. If you are living where the weather is very hot and your having to buy fuel with alcohol 10% or more don't buy this type of fuel. Your 1988 Ford Bronco II is carburetored, and the alcohol will start boiling causing vapor locking this Ford Bronco II. One reason is that early model used an open fuel system and none injectors. With the alcohol additive will low the boiling point of the fuel causing it to boil away; therefore, carburetor can't operate on fuel vapors it has to be liquid. GB...stewbison

Air filter - where is it - how do you check it

This will vary by model. Pari compressors have a small round, slotted cover which holds the filter. Other manufacturers may place them in other locations, such as the side, or the back. Filters should be replaced on a regular schedule, such as every six (6) months, depending on use. Pari rates their filters for 500 hours, but recommends replacing the filter when you replace the nebulizer cup (if using reusable cups), which should be every 6 months to 1 year.
