SOURCE: We are look at purchasing

the best furnace you can buy is a two-stage furnace with a variable speed blower, the most effecient furnace you can buy is the 95% one. the most important thing is the technician installing it. there is a very advanced setup configuration that needs to be followed depending on your outside unit, your ductwork, and the living environment. find a NATE certified dealer. also, look for a Lennox Premier Dealer, and an American Standard Customer Care dealer. you can find them by going to Lennox.com and AmericanStandardAir.com

Have you cleaned your flame sensor? Take a piece of emery cloth or a piece of light sand paper and sand it a little. It is located in the burner section and it is usually to the left side of the unit and it looks like a L. Hope this helps.

I have amana 90 air command with aprilaire 550 humidifier i found water under my furnace today . we had one 80degree day so I uncover my airconditioner and than we had snow and i forgot to cover it back up...

Hello, it's kinda diffucult to tell where the water is coming from without actually seeing it, but since you say it is coming from the bottum of the furnace it might be that the condensate pump might be clogged up or one of the hoses could be leaking that leads into the condensate pump. One other thing to check would be the humidifier, somtimes they can either leak from the drain line or the humidifier itself, check these areas out and and ask me further questions if needed.

Condensation not draining properly and causing rust in cabinet.

Probably a bad gasket between the inducer housing and the secondary heat exchanger. They may be available from a goodman dealer.

I need help selecting the best Amana 5 ton furnace/ac.

I believe you are asking which furnace to go with?

Just some clarification first.

The "condensor" is the outdoor unit.
A "Compressor" is the device inside the outdoor unit that pumps and "compresses" the refridgerant.

An evaporator is the indoor coil, it has refridgerant running through it.

The furnace is completely seperat from the condensor and evaporator.

I "THINK" you are saying that you are looking to buy an AMANA system with a 5 ton 14 to 16 SEER condensor, and a furnace, but you need suggestions on the furnace.

typically when you purchace a condensor, the evaporator coil is simply matched by the manufacturer to the specific condensor you purchace, there is no choosing to deal with. All condensors ofcourse come with a compressor already installed.

If my assumption about your request is correct, maybe this will help.

Amana's 90+ furnaces are great units. I would recomend them to anyone. The 80+ uses a somewhat inferior heat exchanger, and is ofcourse less efficient.
Anything higher than a 90+ can take quite a while to recoup the costs of the enitial purchace through your efficiency savings.

If it were my home, I would go with the 90+ furnace, and the 16 SEER Condensor/evaporator system. But ultimatly, its up to you, your efficiency standards and your wallets potential.

If you live in a northern state where AC is little needed, I'd go with the 14 SEER AC.
Again, an initial cost verses long term savings issue.
