SOURCE: Bobbin case

If your machine is older than 18 months, it needs a free upgrade from your dealer. The plastic see through needle plate needs to be replaced by a newer version that will keep the bobbin down. Further more a bobbin case position finger needs to be installed.

SOURCE: bobbin case case keeps jamming

I am having somewhat the same problem with the exception that my needle did not break. I've cleaned and oil, but the bobbin case and projection positioned spring is not communicating to allow sewing to continue. The thread keeps jamming and the bobbin raises up the plate. So, what else am I to do?

Take the bobbin case out. Then when you go to put it in, realize there are 2 ways to get it. You have found one way. The other way is first look in the the slot with a flashlight before you insert it. There is a flat piece of metal the bracket needs to be slid under as it is inserted. This acts like a spring making it tight

SOURCE: Singer 4562 t bobbin case won't fit properly, what am I doing wro

Make sure the bobbin case sets sort of on top and not under the ridge of the metal ring. There is a small latch on the upper left of the bobbin case. It is metal. rotate the latch to cover the bobbin case and this should stabilize the case without making it immobile

The machine is locked up. I've tried checking for thread behind the bobbin case, but cannot get the bobbin case to move.

Check your owner's manual troubleshooting section.

Assuming the machine is jammed with thread:

Try removing all the thread, remove the needle, the presser foot and the needleplate (if it is removable). If there is a thread tangle in the bobbin area, try to snip the thread loops and gently pull with tweezers or needlenose pliers. The best thing would be to get the bobbin case out of the machine. Once the bobbin case is out, the thread should be pretty easy to remove.

Bobbin case jams

There are several things that can cause that, and you need to investigate and eliminate the possibilities one by one. First, you need to clean both the upper part of the machine, as well as the bobbin area. Take a look at page 80 of your user\'s manual for instructions on removing the cover over the thread path--it\'s a simple matter of removing two screws, and it\'s designed to come off for cleaning. Raise the presser foot, and use ONLY unwaxed dental floss or hand embroidery floss, and floss between the tension disks--there may be lint and/or loose threads preventing the thread from seating. If you\'re unsure regarding the disks\' location, just raise and lower the foot several times--it\'s the only thing that will move. By the way--you DO thread with the presser foot UP, don\'t you? It\'s the only time the disks are spread to accept the thread and exert tension on it, and may just be your problem.

Next, take out your user\'s manual review how you put your bobbin case in, making sure that the pointy part of the case is against the spring on the bottom right. Also make sure that the spring (called a "cushion spring") has not popped out. I\'m going to upload a photo of the case with the spring out and properly in with an explanation.

You should be cleaning your machine--top and bottom--as well as adding a drop of ONLY sewing machine oil in the center hole of the bobbin basket for approximately every 5 hours of embroidery sewing. Clean out the bobbin basket (holds the bobbin case) with the tiny brush that came with your machine, or with q-tips moistened with one drop of sewing machine oil, making sure that you get under the lip of the basket.

Review with the user\'s manual how you thread the bobbin in the case to make sure tension is being exerted on the thread.

try this link for a free manual just in case you don't have one

if the fabric is real light weight you may have to use a stablizer
also check to make sure the needle is the right one for the fabric being sewed..
make sure the bobbin is turned the correct direction, try putting the bobbin in the opposite direction..
if the machine keeps jamming, take it back up where you bought it and show them what it's doing and see if they can help you..

Brother sewing machine jammed?

take bobbin out...look in case in machine and pull any loose threads...you have to sew very slowly so this does not happen...the books don't tell you that!!! Make sure bobbin itself is neatly wrapped and thread is out where it is supposed to be once inside case.

Machine jams after 4 or 5 stitches. Bobbin thread locks up.

try these suggestions
change the needle
make sure the thread doesn't come off the thread take up lever--this
can jam the machine
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case--this
can cause problems if the bobbin is turned the wrong way
make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
make sure there are no burrs in the bobbin area or on the needle
plate

Under the embroidery attachement (on the front side) is a lever to engage or disengage the "feed dog control." When embroidering, you need to move the lever to the level to disengage. The feed dog control should only be at the righe side position, or raised when you are not using the embroidery attatchment.
