Question about LG 42LD550 42 in. TV
I have an LG 42LD550-UB model. When I started the TV one morning, I thought I heard a small "frizzle" in the back, and the TV has not been working since then. When I power it on (either via remote or the panel), the red light at bottom of the screen turns RED and stays blinking red - no picture or sound. After this, I am unable to switch it off either via remote or panel. Only way to get the RED blinking light off is to disconnect power supply from the wall. When TV is powered on and the RED light is blinking, nothing happens if I change the channel, or volume, or INPUT or menu buttons. I have opened the back panel and do not see any bulged capacitors. What could be wrong? Are there any fuses that could have blown, or is it power supply board that needs to be replaced in its entirety? Any help to diagnose and fix would be very helpful. Thanks SU

Best send repair manual.
I have pics to show / identify problem but I cannot attach to my reply. Parts defective are: 4532M x 2 (UC2 & 3), diode next to diode RC22 & cap C35 and IC6 (cannot see part number). Board number is YPNL-M007B r1.0, also recognized L.G. Phillips part number: LC230W01-A2
My hands are not as steady as years ago to do surface mount solerering but my wife can as she has done this before being electronic equipment assembler.
As stated before I need to find source of what I suspect is short that had blown these components.
I bet a replacement board is more expencive than a new LCD TV!, but I want to resolve this prob and maybe help others...LG too.
Thanks Heaps Jaime867!

Unfortunately, that board is the inverter board. And for this model the inverter board is only supplied with the the PDP panel. The panel is quite expensive, here's a link if needed:

You can try troubleshooting the power supply section, which actually the only thing you can fix in these tv. check for leaking capacitors, bad semiconductors, such as diodes, transistors, which may be overheating and causing a short. troubleshooting electronic circuits is a pain unless you know a little about it. You may want to learn a bit about electronic first before you actually start taking parts out of a circuit.

Have an LG26Lx1D for about 3 years, dropped off by my son.(Figures).Power light just blinking, but went back to red.Removed back panel, and metal cover. Just above antenna/cable input, its a small fan, mine was full of dirt. Blow off dirt, and make sure its turning freely.
Install back the covers, an voila....its a miracle...its working again.
