Does it look like a VGA plug? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

If so, you'll have to back out the screws on either side to take it out. Just do it with your fingers, or if they're too tight, use a flat screwdriver to do them (some even allow use of a phillips screwdriver). Just be careful as sometimes the screws want to take the screws that they're mounted in with them (they hold the VGA port in place).

If that isn't it, where is the plug and what shape is it?

Replace spring for pull cord on husqvarna 65021 RS lawn mower

if the spring is still in its compartment and the cord just hangs off some and it used to recoil all the way, the coil , spring , and rope are gathering dirt, the spring wants to be dry or have some graphite on it and the string needs to be clean, .
take off the housing that holds the pull rope, clean around it on the inside, pull it a few times to let out the dust .it wont come off. on the inside you can wrap the rope another time around the pulley, if you really need to. try to clean it first. Don't take apart if you don't have to , it will spring out and its 6 feet long!!!! not easy to get back in.

I want to clean the dust from my tower and blow canned air, but does the blue plug on cord pull straight out ?

Dear bonnie,
Years ago, on a computer tech help site, I read a posting warning against this unless a last resort? It said that if all was well - leave it be! as moving dust from where it has settled could possibly cause a 'short-circuit' & burn out components. Also do not know which cable is "blue plug on cord"? Make sure power is off at wall. The power plug pulls straight out from computer. Other plugs have obvious screws/screw-posts. If you are going to fiddle around inside your box, best practice is to wear an anti-static wrist band attached to metal screw/frame with power OFF at wall but leads still plugged in - (this will ensure that the computer is earthed & your body static - up to 50,000volts! - will not fry any components). I hope that this helps - kind regards - 'b'ye - Bruce.

Hi.

Turn the computer off and remove the power cord. Have a look at the system memory that is inside the case and make sure its free of dust. If you have to remove the system memory and clean the contacts with a sofl, dry paintbrush, also clean the slots and the case itself. Be very carefull while cleaning not to catch any of the components. Once done re-seat the memory making sure it clicks into place. Plug in the power cord and start the computer. See if you still get the same message.

If you don't close the case and consider is a dust problem and its sorted, if not please post back.

Good luck.

Melting plastic smell/ computer slow and shuts down after about 15mins

Hi there.
The reason you can smell burning plastic and why its shutting down after a short time is because its overheating. This can be caused by a build up of dust on the CPU fan, overtime with dust build up computers struggle to keep themselves cool and tend to shut down unexpectedly, chances are this is the problem with your machine, my advice would be to remove the power cord, open the side panel of the computer and clean all the dust away from inside the tower, do this with a soft, clean paintbrush making sure you remove the dust carefully and gently, also make sure the CPU fan and the heat sync behind it is completely free of dust or any other foreign objects.
Once you are happy that its clear of dust, close or return the side panel, plug in the power cord and turn the PC on, you may find that the PC will stay on for longer with the smell dramatically reduced.

Please post back with the results and thanks for using FixYa!!
